Lebron James is the greatest to ever play the game

First, you have to look at players in the context of their own times. Wilt was the most dominant player in the history of the game. Every opponent had ONE objective in every game . Stop Wilt. His relative lack of championships is the result of inferior teammates and coaching. When he had a good supporting cast, he won. But he couldn't dribble or shoot, so you cannot consider him as the best PLAYER in the history of the NBA.

Based on results, MJ was the best player. When the game was on the line, everyone in the arena always knew that Jordan was going to get the ball, and they still couldn't stop him. And his supporting cast was mediocre, at best. Scottie Pippin? Are you kidding me?

Skill wise, there are several players right below Wilt and MJ, and LeBron is probably at the top of that list. Others are obviously Kobe, Oscar, Cousy, and other current standouts.

But make no mistake, each player generation is better than the last one. They are a little quicker, a little smarter, and a little stronger. This is due to early starts, training and better coaching.

A similar dis us sion could be had about baseball. Ruth was clearly the most dominant, and considering his considerable success as a pitcher, he is in fact a category of one.

Best player overall for a CAREER (rather than for a stretch of years), you have to look at Gehrig, Mays, Musial, Ted Wms, Clemente...honestly, the list is very, very long. There is no quantitative way to measure. Too many variables.

What, no Ty Cobb?

What a rip!

They should redistribute their talent to other, less fortunate players

King James did exactly that in Cleveland. True story.

Lets look at how Lebron was received on his home turf when coming from a different city versus how Jordan was received:

Lebron (booed the whole game while sticking a dagger in his home town)

Michael Jordan (3+ minutes of standing ovation)

He didn't stab Cleveland in the back. They got all pissy because he wanted to work with a winning team and Clevelanders wanted him to carry the team.

Lebron has no right to ever be compared to Jordan again, and he is NOT even CLOSE to being the best ever, not even fucking close.
