I love it. Conservatives looked in the mirror and what they saw was so ugly, they just assumed they were looking at "Liberals". Oops.

Man, you've got that right. For the whole of Obama's presidency so far, they've been finding a problem with themselves, and turning around and accusing Democrats of their problem. They are Fascists, and they call democrats Fascists. They are torturing war-mongering Nazis, and they call Democrats Nazis. The list goes on and on.

Even everything they've said about health care, applies to them. They say the health care bill has death panels, a lie, when they only "offer" as an option, counseling for the aged and infirm. But in truth, 45,000 people die each year from the lack of good insurance and preventive health care, that republicans want to keep as is.

I think the biggest tragedy is that so many who fight for the positions of the right, are actually people who are one accident from being put in an unfavorable position of being broke and homeless. These people are driven by one of the many wedge issues, love of guns for every criminal, anti-choice positions, racism, and homophobia, to the point they have been destroying their own economic futures, and especially their childrens' futures.

It's hard to get them to snap out of this team mentality, but then, that is the purpose of FAUX and the 90 percent talk radio saturation brainwashing. Brainwashing is designed to be hard to crack.

Just a comment here, while many of today's democrats, seem to mix up the word liberal with the word democrat they are not the same if you associate them with what today's democrats advocate. Let' me give you and example, a true liberal would never want the authority of Govt. to dictate to the individual on matter of liberty, and freedom. However, you see in today's healthcare debate the exact opposite, in mandates for coverage, tax penalty's and punishment. Not only in the healthcare realm, you see the modern democrat , at least some, advocate Govt. ownership of private companies, Auto, Banking, etc. and with the coming climate change bill you will soon see even more advocate for the heavy hand of Govt. When a so called liberal stands to defend pro-choice on the grounds that Govt. does not have the right to tell a person what they can and cannot do with their own body then they act more to the definition. So when you sling around the word liberal be careful of what you mean, because it really does not relate to what you stand for if you advocate what the modern democratic party is advocating.

I suppose that you could say that those that not want the tyranny of King George to dictate to them from England what they could and could not do in their own homes as well as impose burdensome taxes upon them, could be seen by the definition as liberal in their time. Further those that do not wish a Govt. to impose taxes upon them and dictate to them how they should and should not live their lives, by means of healthcare choices, and down to lifestyle choices can also be seen as liberal by definition. In fact, those that wish the heavy hand of Govt. impose restrictions on these things are far from the word liberal.

Not only "in their time". I'd say that they are (in regards to the matters specifically addressed, though not in all matters) a good representation of what liberalism truly means.
