There is some material that has absolutely no value being in a school library. It is not banning books to choose what is and is not appropriate for school children to have access/to read in the classroom or school library. I don't know how you do it in Canada. In America that has been the rule for public education since there has been public education.

It absolutely is. Banning books should be in libraries. Have you seen the list of books they’re banning anything by black authors are brown off. There’s anything that celebrates non-white culture.

They’re banning books on the Holocaust - anything that would teach children about history.

In Florida, they banned the teaching of art because a child complained that Michelangelos statue of David was naked.

After Katrina in New Orleans, they tried to go to a charter school program 100%, but it was prohibitively expensive and it was cancelled after a few years. In the interim 60,000 children disappeared from the NA school system.

In order to destroy some thing, you first have to make it so bad that people want it gone and that’s what Republicans are trying to do with the school system.

But continue to believe that the Democrats are the problem here sue because you believe all kinds of bullshit that just isn’t true.

I have been a public school teacher for 30 years.

In a neighboring county where I live, 30 miles west of Washington DC, parents erupted over such books being in the school system. The books depicted inappropriate adult-child sex content yet the Democrats and Liberals resisted the fight because the relationships/images were of LGBTQ. Mind you, this is the same region where the father of a girl raped in a girls bathroom by a boy wearing a tutu was deemed a threat by the liberal district attorney because of the father’s outrage that the board protected the boy simply because his LGBTQ status was more important than his daughter being raped.

Back to the books, if the content were about heterosexual adult woman and coming of age minor male having a relationship, the book should still be banned for the same reasons. But, because these books were of LGBTQ relationships, the Democrats and Liberals fought to keep them in the taxpayer funded K-12 bookshelves.

Do you think the Bible should be banned?

No, I don’t. Having free speech doesn’t mean we don’t have at least some common morals with which we all agree. If aren’t going to censory anything from anybody, why not have XXX porn on the shelves in elemetary schools? Why not have books describing how to rob banks and get away with it. How about books on how to kill people and why that is a good thing? Some form of censorship must exist in an orderly society. The issue we have in this country is we can no longer agree(as a group) what is beneficial and what is detrimental for an orderly society. The main issue in the US is the incrementalism towards perversion, which is promoted by the left. For example, for now, the vast majority of us, minus a few extremists, can agree that murder is immoral and detrimental. Not very long ago, most of us could agree, minus a few extremists, that explicit porn should not be allowed in public school libraries. There must be a line drawn somewhere if we are to live in an orderly society. If people want to call that censorship, then so be it.

Yeah, it is very easy to see that the major tenants of the Bible are very beneficial to society whereas the major tenants of porn are not. It really is as simple as that. I have never understood why those in favor of an orderly society would be against the major tenants of the Bible, even atheists.
