In my opinion the results of the election reflected a total rejection of the last eight years under Obama, and Hillary's big mistake was that she tied herself to him like glue.

She could have very easily said that Obama made the final decisions as to which direction he wants to go with the policies and agenda, and it was her job to carry them out. And that in some cases she disagreed, for example Iran, but in the end he's the president. It's possible she didn't do that because the FBI investigation was still open, and they knew that Obama wanted his legacy to continue through Hillary. And in return Obama campaign for her like never before.
