President Donald Trump slammed a coronavirus stimulus bill late on Tuesday evening that Congress expects him to sign, saying that they need to send him a bill that gives Americans significantly more money.

“Throughout the summer, Democrats cruelly blocked COVID relief legislation in an effort to advance their extreme left-wing agenda and influence the election,” Trump began. “Then, a few months ago, Congress started negotiations on a new package to get urgently needed help to the American people. It’s taken forever.”

Trump said that large sums of money in the bill was slated to go to foreign nations and illegal aliens in the U.S. Trump also highlighted other “wasteful spending” that was included in the bill.

But the process until McConnell is always the same. He ignores everything but pushing through judges until the government is in danger of shutting down, and won't even discuss these things, until they're within days of shutting down the government and then suddenly there's a big last minute deal.

The tariffs fixed nothing. Your trade deals weren't "fucked up". They were all negotiated by Republicans to enrich American corporations and break the back of the American union movement, and they have been very successful at doing both. Some needed tweaking, and the patents and trade marks issue with China is a continuing problem that Trump has done nothing to address to this point.

Democrats have been fighting these deals since Reagan first proposed NAFTA. House Democrats refused to pass NAFTA until SOME protections were built in for workers.

The Clinton Administration fought for foreign car companies to build cars for the US market, in the USA. Toyota opened its first American plant in 1996. Mercedes opened its first American production facility in 1997. This is a prime example of Democrats recognizing the new global realities and working within them to create jobs for American workers, after Republicans sold workers down the river.

These trade deals made the USA the richest nation on earth. Democrats opposed these deals at every turn saying they would cost the US economy jobs, and they weren't good for American workers.

In Canada, the Canadian government undertook a massive retraining program for auto industry workers displaced by NAFTA. The USA just left them to their own devices to find jobs. In the City of Oshawa, General Motors and its local suppliers employed 20,000 people at its massive manufacturing facility. Today, the Canadian corporate offices employ 200 people, and yet Oshawa is a thriving city with low unemployment.

The City of Windsor - across the river from Detroit, and the home of Chrysler Canada, is similar, and Oakville (home of Ford) has remained one of the wealthiest cities in Canada. We raised our minimum wages, and we retrained everyone who asked us to, and we moved into the 21st Century economy.

The problem isn't that the Democrats "tax and spend", it's that the Republicans "cut and spend". Leading to larger and larger deficits.
