Back when home schooling was unfashionable, our state had a homeschooled 8th grader who won the Professional Engineers' State MathCounts contest and placed honorable mention at Nationals. That never happened before in our state, because we were the least populated state in the union at the time. That family deserves a gold crown for teaching their son so well. Thanks for the :thumbs: for home schooled children. All I had ever heard before from teachers was that people home schooled so they could commit pedophilia. That's a lie, and just not the case. Wise people who don't want children winding up in unfamily-like circumstances would do well to trust themselves more than public schools, which take alternative lifestyles to being anything but what they are--an end to the family. And it's horrific for elderly parents who look back and wonder how their children were misled into thinking it's okay to destroy America, imho. I don't think it's okay to dismantle the best country the world has ever known through the goal of exterminating time-tested rules of good living and substituted self-centering, profane lifestyles in the place of treating other people well.

Yeah, cuz kids today are so much better educated than kids educated in one-room schoolhouses.

Wrong. My kids spent the first few years of school in a Charter school, where they were in multi-grade classrooms taught by one teacher...so my daughter had the same teacher for a couple of years running. They were two years ahead of their traditional public school compatriots when we moved to a new school district, and they remain head and shoulders above their classmates in math, particularly, two years later.

"Researchers found that the public-school kids tested at or above their grade levels, but home-schooled children tested even higher than that — about a half-grade higher in math and 2.2 grades in reading, compared with the traditionally educated children."

3. And now that Zinn has been identified as aligning himself with the doctrines that were responsible for over 100 million human beings slaughtered in 'the century of genocide,' lets add another communist hero to the education wall of shame:
John Dewey.


4. In the early years after the Bolshevik Revolution, the communists used manipulations, such as the Potemkin Villages, to pursuade the world how admirable and successful the revolution had been. One technique was to invite prominent American and British leftists to take carefully planned tours. And these ‘Potemkin Progressives,’ for the most part, behaved and thought just as they were meant to. Woodrow Wilson wouldn’t recognize the Bolshevik regime, nor would the contemporary British government (Churchill had famously told Lloyd George, ‘You might a well legalize sodomy…’)

a. Lenin, and then Stalin, carefully arranged the tours so that these progressives would then go back to their countries and praise Soviet Russia, and have the citizens demand that Russia be recognized.





5. John Dewey was one such Potemkin Progressive. And this man is the greatest single influence on American schoolchildren; his books have been used to train generations of teachers. Even while the Russian civil war was still going on (some seven million killed between 1917 and 1921), Dewey’s books were translated into Russian by the Bolsheviks: they immediately recognized the importance of his ideas to the Soviet collective communist state.

c. He found that the Bolshevik revolution was a great success, and “I think the schools are a 'dialectic' factor in the evolution of Russian communism.”

d. And, of course, he declared for ‘political recognition on the part of the United States as a necessary antecedent step…” to benefit both countries. Exactly what the Bolsheviks wanted.

I've heard that about home schooled kids testing well. I don't believe that to be completely true. There is no way those kids could have the skills to engage with strangers and public institutions as well as equally educated students from a more populated environment. Following the beliefs and interests of one's parents too closely is un natural. Also testing can be skewed if the student has been trained just to score high on tests.

I have to admit I know no home schooled kids or parents. I do know a lot about the preparation teachers go through to get certified to teach in public schools though as both my parents became teachers deciding to do so when I was in my twenties. They both worked very hard to gain the knowledge needed.

My parents were both genius level I Qs but no way in hell could I have standed being home schooled and they both had a world of experience and knowledge. Sadly for mom and dad as it turns out the most important thing a prospective citizen/student needs to learn is how to get along with others.
