Man allegedly executes DUI that killed his sons.

If I was on the jury. It wouldn't matter if they found the gun with the father's finger prints on it, gun powder residue on his hand, or even had a video of the father shooting the drunk.

I would vote "Not Guilty" ..

Which is why that ask questions of potential jurors. They dismiss the sociopaths and the bloodthirsty ones.

Over the years I have done a week of jury 3 different times. ..

Actually, I am........you get a notice in the mail and have to show up.

But is was interesting and in a way kind of fun. ..

So, you would just shrug your shoulders if some drunk killed your TWO children, eh? Why am I not surprised.

There's video of a father on a pay phone in a courthouse, pretending to be talking to someone. The cops are escorting a scumbag down the hall who had molested the kid of the guy on the phone. As the cops cross paths with the dad, he takes out a pistol and shoots the perp in the head, killing him.

It was a beautiful thing to see.

saw that in my Criminal law class in LS. the professor noted it was clearly premeditated murder-the karate coach was executed. As I recall the GJ no billed the defendant. It was a slick hit. almost as good as a mob hit I saw on FBI surveillance tape later in my career In the case of the father, I believe the Jury Foreman's comment was

"the scum bag just needed killin"

which once was a defense in Texas. Another case involved the town asshole down there. a bonafide scum bag who caused all sorts of trouble but not enough to get serious jail time. One day the mope is found dead in his truck in a crowded intersection. Looked like a professional cleaning. Cops didn't do much. Feds came in figuring maybe the cops were involved. case closed- case summary-the guy just needed killing

USMB nutters sure are emotional.
You look at your own kids on a slab and see how you feel. Tell me you wouldn't want to kill the piece of shit who killed your kids

I would. We have already had a discussion of this nature.

I would kill him. Then, I would expect to be arrested and tried for my crime. I wouldn't like it. I would FEEL as though I was in the right. But, we have to follow the rule of law......even when we don't feel like it.

I am not banging on the guy for offing the idiot. I am banging in the emotional response of USMB nutters who are suggesting that he needn't face the music for it.

AOL.com Article - Prosecutor: Father shooting driver was 'execution'

Hope he is found not guilty. Drunk drivers kill someone....they can die themselves.
Vigilante justice is not okay. If you allow one person to take the law into his own hands, you open the door for others to do the same. It's a slippery slope leading to a lawless nation.
You have already convicted him without any proof he did it and you want to talk about Justice? Read the article, they have no weapon, no gunshot residue on the accused and no witnesses. Further they have testimony that indicates lots of people had access and several people fled the scene.
Oh, please. Who are you kidding?

Face the music and then what?

Serve a few years then get to live out the rest if his life?

Not good enough.

I would hang a jury over this case. There is absolutely noway I would convict this guy

Well.....at least you have gone through the legal system and charged him and seen that he got a fair trial. I'm sure he'd appreciate you.

Like entering the country illegally.
This is a false analogy. I thought you were smarter than that. There is no comparison between entering an area illegally and killing someone in a fit of rage. Taking the law into your own hands is not the same as entering an area illegally. Comparing what the illegal immigrants do to trespassing would be a reasonable analogy: shooting someone to death in a fit of rage is not.

The law is the law and a slippery slope is a slippery slope.

No false analogy at all.

The only difference is proportionality of the offenses.

The law of the land is the LEGAL immigration system.

A person who enters the country illegally takes the law into their own hands.

If you oppose taking the law into ones own hands...you should apply that standard consistently.
Crossing the border illegally is not vigilantism, which is what you are trying to say it is. Stop being intellectually dishonest and I'll have more respect for you.

Translation...you have no argument to make.

Got it.
I guess you really aren't as smart as I thought you were. It's not that I don't have a valid argument; it's that you apparently don't understand it. Logically, there is no comparison between illegally crossing the border and killing someone in a fit of rage, and then claiming you are justified.

For one thing, those illegally crossing the border don't claim they have a moral right to do so. They know they are breaking the law. Also, if we follow your reasoning, everyone who skirts or breaks the law, any law no matter how inconsequential, is equal to a vigilante who murders someone because they believe they have a moral right to do so. The actions are not equal. Trespassing and execution are not equivalent. That is why the legal system has different punishments for different crimes.

I had to get rid of some of those quotes...it was getting out of hand.

You are hung up on equivalency.

Broaden your vision.

Your overarching point is "Taking the law into ones own hands is detrimental to society and the legal system."

THAT is EXACTLY the same point I am making.

I understand that you dislike the comparison...but that makes the point no less true.

Who am I kidding? The cops have no evidence. No weapon, no witness, no gunshot residue on the accused. Multiple people had access to the victim, several fled the scene.

You claim we need justice while making the claim this guy is guilty with out any trial or evidence. Hypocrite much?
