Man mocks Alligators, ignores warning signs then jumps in water and is killed by Alligators in Texas

How stupid are liberals?

They actually believed that putting sharks on the endangered species list and increasing their numbers wouldn't result in more shark attacks. Did they think the sharks would be grateful?

Liberals believed that protecting turtle nesting and large numbers of turtles on the shore wouldn't result in sharks coming closer to shore. For that, the sharks really are grateful.

The alligators are grateful for stupid liberals too.
Reports on TV say that the water is about 10 degrees warmer there, which encourages sharks.

We have a lot more seals around here than we used to have. I know that much. When I go to the Cliff Walk in Newport, RI, they are all over the place hanging out on rock outcroppings in the ocean.

There's always a fair amount of risk in many things we do and of course its sad when people die.
Still, knowing there's an 11 ft alligator in the waters you are about to swim in is :cuckoo:.
Swimming in waters after numerous shark attacks...also:cuckoo:

...if I saw an 11 foot alligator Id move out of that state. Ill take bears over prehistoric looking eating machines any day.

Meh, in reality shark attacks are quite rare. Although there have been a couple in the Carolinas, we haven't had one here in my area in a very long time. I'm quite sure your chances of being attacked by a shark around here are less than being hit by a car while walking across the street.

Too bad. Reminds of a story I heard not too long about about a guy who went into a tiger enclosure on purpose and was mauled and killed by tigers. Maybe these people aren't all there in the head or something.

I've also heard that people that live in "alligator territories" frequently swim the alligators, and it's not that big a deal to them. Kind of like us in the northeast going into the ocean even though we know there are sharks. Sometimes, people get eaten or bit.

It's a matter of complacency. The guy had never had a problem with the smaller ones, so he thought he wouldn't have a problem that time.

Sure, if he has been swimming there for years and years, he probably felt perfectly comfortable doing it. Alligator attacks on humans are probably quite rare too. Guy just happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time.

He mocked the Alligators? And they didn't retreat in humiliation and shame?

Seriously?

Huh... seems another obama Constituent learns the hard way that nature isn't subject to the feckless rejection of popular whimsy.

I wouldn't go that far. Only an idiot can't see the difference between swimming near a 4 ft. alligator and swimming near an 11 footer, and he was aware that the big one was there. It is still a tragic occurrence, but don't paint him as guiltless.

Well neither do I. I'm just saying that perhaps he felt a false sense of security around these animals because he was used to sharing a swimming hole with them.

A couple of attacks? Try 11 so far this year.

One of the clues should be when the alligator is bigger than you.

They wont screw with you until they get past around the eight foot mark.
And even then it's rare.

Actually it is because of fishing in the area, but leave it to the far left to try and pin this on anything else.

It's mainly from people feeding them.

I'm not too sure about that. When I was a kid, I once had a two footer chase me off of a foot bridge, but I was poking him with a short stick when it happened. He tried to get away, but I blocked his exit, so I guess I gave him no choice. Bottom line.... they behave much differently when they feel threatened.

Texas alligator attack Man killed in Orange County - CNN.com
While it is tragic that a person lost their life, it is extremely difficult to feel any sympathy for someone who was warned multiple times, in multiple forms. What a fool.

Isn't tragic when some moron dies this way. Aligators gotta eat too. :)

Steve Irwin called American alligators 'frogs with teeth.' ...And was then promptly killed by a 'pancake with spikey tail.' :)

The alligator didnt eat the dude.
They generally will stuff their kill under a root or log and let it get a little ripe before eating it.
This guy wasnt ready for eaten before the found his body.
