It's my guess that if he survives his state sentence ( assuming he's granted time served ) that if Trump is president he will pardon him around the end of 2022. If Trump doesn't win in 2020, I doubt the poor guy leave prison alive.

Manafort's big sin was being campaign manager for Trump. If it was really his taxes he would have been prosecuted a decade ago. Isn't that what the IRS does? Go after people for tax problems? Income tax violations aren't treason, and Mr. Manafort isn't a traitor. In fact, there are no convictions for treason at all.

Manafort is a first time, non-violent offender. A life sentence in solitary confinement is beyond the pale.

If Mr. Manafort was a young black male, or an illegal alien , the Left would have a conniption if he was sentenced to life in solitary for a non-violent offense.
