McCarthy caves, concedes to all demand of dissenters...

Salon is reporting the same...but so far, if this quote is accurate...it doesn't get McCarthy the votes yet...

"Still, the proposal would not placate all of the holdouts. Rep. Chip Roy, R-Texas, one of the Republicans leading the charge against McCarthy, told Republican leaders he could get 10 holdouts to flip if the negotiations pan out while others may be willing to vote "present" instead of against McCarthy, according to the report.

"We've had more discussions in the last two days as a body sitting there, than we've done in frickin' four years," Roy told reporters on Wednesday."

Who showed some backbone? :heehee:
Not the Squad when they could have used this process to force votes on Medicare for All.

You realized this #ForceTheVote strategy was formulated by Progressives...right? To force Pelosi to acquiesce to THEIR demands.

But they didn't have the scrote to implement it and baldfaced lied to their constituents that if they attempted it McCarthy would become Speaker.

Any other questions?

"The concessions McCarthy made are significant. Axios and Politico Playbook reported:

  1. One member motion threshold needed to force a vote ousting a speaker, instead of five.
  2. More House Freedom Caucus members on the House Rules Committee (two seats).
  3. Pledges to hold votes on lawmaker term limit and border security bills.
  4. Major changes to the appropriations process to prevent another omnibus bill by allowing floor amendments to be offered by any lawmaker.
In addition, the McCarthy-aligned super PAC, Congressional Leadership Fund (CLF), pledged it would not spend money in Republican primary races against GOP candidates in open races, as its affiliates had done in several races in the 2022 midterm elections.

The concessions are in addition to ten more concessions previously negotiated between the GOP factions.

It is unknown if the concessions will be enough to move 16 members to support McCarthy. The seventh round of voting is set to resume Thursday at noon."

What is "radical and extremist" about those measures? :dunno:

I'm more pragmatic.

I don't believe there's anyone that the 200 McCarthy supporters would accept that would be anything but nominally better than McCarthy.

And McCarthy looks exceptionally weak right now.

Better to take the W, the concessions, and the weak leader rather than risk snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

It's not 20 vs 200... It's 20 vs all of Washington and all of the Legacy Media.

Definite guardrails needed to be put in place for McCarthy, as he assumed that he would head the House with an anti-Democratic fist like Queen Nancy Pelosi!!

Conservative victory? More like a win for the Crazy. Does anyone find it ironic that Kev is fighting to obtain a position he has given the MAGAnuts the power to take away from him if he doesn't let them run the shitshow?
You are confused Moon Bat

The crazy ones are the filthy Democrats and the RINOs that passed that stupid $1.7 Trillion spending bill full of more pork than an Arkansas pig processing plant when we are $31 Trillion in debt.

The insane ones are the idiots of both parties that want to continue to do the same thing over and over again expecting different results when all we get are continued debt, bloated bureaucratic government and untold numbers of welfare queens (both foreign and domestic) that are sucking off the $5 Trillion a year Federal teat.

This is exactly the reason that McCarthy is the wrong man for the job.

If he's willing to give everyone everything they want just to climb the next rung of the ladder, what kind of "negotiating" are we going to get when a real tough fight with democrats and/or the CCP comes up?

That douchebag would sell his mother into a whore house to be Speaker.
The CCP told me they are enjoying this goatfck happening in America's sandbox. Just imagine if their government was so dysfunctional!

I'm not real big on the first one (I think it should be five members) but the rest are desperately needed to keep the likes of The Turtle over in the senate at bay when it comes to spending.

I bet Rand Paul will be a happier man if it comes to pass.

A wonderful example of democratic principles.

If this happened in China, the dissenters would be forcibly removed, taken behind the chemical building and shot in the head.

Those Chinese continue to exhibit a model of government that is beyond reproach.

When the media on all sides, and politicians on all sides breathlessly repeat that the stalemate in the house is a bad thing, it is only because they are worried that the people will figure out just how unnecessary they are.
I am all for having no speaker.
None.

In view of the fact that Washington IS BROKEN, your position is logical.

To a time where the people in Congress actually put the interest of the American people first instead of special interest and the welfare queens. If that was ever the case.

Passing massive wasteful spending bills that are funded by debt ain't cool.

Putting out a 1500 page almost $2 T spending bill with more pork in it than an Oscar Mayer packing plant and then requiring that it has to be voted on in a few hours when we are $31 T in debt ain't cool .

Not having stand alone bills is a recipe for more pork and and more corruption and more welfare.

Allowing millions of goddamn Illegals to flood across the border is not cool.

Raising taxes ain't cool.

Adding more debt to an already massive debt is not cool.

Growing the size of an already massive bloated Federal bureaucracy ain't cool.

Having a welfare state ain't cool.

Artificially running up the cost of energy to appease the Environmental Wackos ain't cool.

Destroying the military with woke polices ain't cool.

Stealing elections and punishing those that protested against it ain't cool.

Don't know how many of those things the 20 American Patriots can fix but at least they can make a start.
Our government is broken. We have dangerous alliances between departments that are supposed to be sole and separate. We have no watchdog media. We have intelligence agencies that behave like a Democrat hit squad. Nothing changes by just going with the flow and not making waves.

The basic problem is that the filthy Federal Government has grown to be a bloated debt ridden $5.5 Trillion a year monster. That is more than the GDP of all but about three other countries on earth.

That amount of money invites all kind of corruption.

These politicians that we elect are the ones that dole out enormous amount of money. Some of them are corrupt. Some of them are egotistical assholes that think their job is to spend our money. Some of them are bought and pay for by special interest groups.

Very few of them can be trusted. Very few of them really gives a shit about this country. They say they do but they really don't.

The real way to fix this is to defund the federal government to do only the bare minimum like Defense, courts, state department etc. However, that will not happen and our country will still continue to be broke.

We are long pass the point where I country can be fixed at the ballot box.

Trump tied his best and made some progress but look how the Swamp stole the election from him and run him out of office.

We are fucked.
