Michael Cohen office raided by FBI

Trump hired Rosenstein who is a long time Republican, after he fired the Obama appointee for telling him to get rid of Flynn.

The head of the FBI, Christopher Wray, is the guy Trump appointed to clean up the FBI. Since he was appointed the only guy he got rid of was McCabe. I guess the FBI isn’t as corrupt as Trump thought.

The only attack on the Republic is coming from Putin, Trump and the troll farmers. But you already knew that didn’t you Alexi?

Things are NOT always as they appear. I don;t think you have even an inclining as to who and what Rosenstein actually is.
It's really easy to pull the wool over many peoples eyes

If Mueller is not dead bang right on this, it is a career killer. Now that Stormy Daniels is bearing it all for Penthouse and answering questions, conveniently not under oath, she may sink his investigation right out of her box.

It was a crime which is serious enough that a Federal judge felt that the evidence is in danger of disappearing or Cohen could not be trusted to give up. All reports say, Cohen was not expecting this raid to take place. Since he has been with the Liar in Chief for so long, it is hard to say what they may find. I would think a dead boy would start stinking after a day or so....

Federal judges went out of their way to completely ignore the prelim injunction rules for political reasons. I trust federal judges as far as I can throw Michael Moore.

Let's see the affidavits.

"Now....aren't you Special...."

A few observations:
  • Yet again, we see Mueller and the rest of the FBI coming completely "out of the blue" with a bombshell....And people have the temerity to presume they know or can accurately infer the status of Mueller's and other FBI investigations. Nothing could be farther from the truth.
  • Mueller is clearly not seeking to overstep the scope of his mandate. His scope is stuff having Russia as part of its nexus of activity in connection with Trump's 2016 election campaign. Cohen has been adamant about not ever having had a role in Trump's campaign. I suspect, consequently, that the raid does not pertain to the the 2016 campaign, but it may pertain to "conventional" federal election law violations, though it may just be something else altogether.
  • Whatever Mueller turned over to the NY Southern District of the FBI/DoJ must be quite convincing that there's "there" there. That's my observation because Cohen being the POTUS' personal attorney makes the raid fall into a special class of activities within the FBI whereby officials at the highest levels must approve such a raid. All the people at the highest levels of the FBI and DoJ are Trump appointees.
One prediction:
  • Trump is likely apoplectic at the moment and will post a "dipsh*t" tweet about the matter.
It was that Russian money laundering case that Trump had Sessions settle for an ungodly small amount of money after Trump peremptorily and without any warning fired the standing AG (or DA--whatever) there after asking him to stay.
That case that was being defended by the Russian lawyer who met with Trump Jr. and friends to discuss "adoption law."
THAT case, I'd betcha.

Does this mean we won’t be getting any threads today about how rhe Russia investigation is long over and that it’s actually Obama and Hillary that have been under investigation?
This is more like proof the Russian investigation is over. It has moved on to a 12 year old one night stand.

What federal law was broken?

It’s not the affair, it’s the cover up, stupid.

Federal election funding laws were broken regarding the payment of hush money. In regards to the NDA, there are legal ethics violations if Trump had no knowledge of the NDA.

Trump threw Cohen under the bus with his “I knew nothing about it” comment regarding the NDA.

Mr. Cohen is at the center of several aspects of the special counsel’s investigation. He also acknowledged paying $130,000 to Stephanie Clifford, who said she had an affair with Mr. Trump.

The F.B.I. on Monday raided the office of President Trump’s longtime personal lawyer, Michael D. Cohen, seizing records related to several topics including payments to a pornographic-film actress.

Federal prosecutors in Manhattan obtained the search warrant after receiving a referral from the special counsel, Robert S. Mueller III, according to Mr. Cohen’s lawyer, who called the search “completely inappropriate and unnecessary.” The search does not appear to be directly related to Mr. Mueller’s investigation, but likely resulted from information he had uncovered and gave to prosecutors in New York.

“Today the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York executed a series of search warrants and seized the privileged communications between my client, Michael Cohen, and his clients,” said Stephen Ryan, his lawyer. “I have been advised by federal prosecutors that the New York action is, in part, a referral by the Office of Special Counsel, Robert Mueller.”

Make no mistake this no knock raid is not about Stormy Daniels.

Robert Mueller could care less about her. Remember that Trump's business records were subpoenaed recently. He's had them for about 2 months now. Mueller has had time to go over those, and Michael Cohen has been very good at setting up shell corporations for Trump--like he did in Delaware over the payment to Stormy Daniels.
Trump lawyer used shell company to pay off ex-porn star: report

Michael Cohen being Trump's personal attorney for decades has a lot of documents on Trump.

It's the equivalent of J. Edgar Hoover grabbing Al Capone's accountant, and getting the books. IOW--this is yuuuuge.

Attorney-client privilege ends when the lawyer starts breaking the law.

Trump/Cohen better call Saul
What law did Cohen break? You know he hasn't been charged with any crime.

Prosecutors would love to be able to raid lawyer's offices. They would do it in every case.

This is Mueller rolling it all. If he is wrong, his career is over along with a goodly chunk of the FBI.

A warrant requires probable cause that a crime or crimes have been committed, fool.
no, you must state what the crime is you're going after. so what is the crime?

It hasn't been released yet, dope.

We do know however that there certainly was probable cause.
Probable cause based on what? What's the crime?

A search warrant is based on an affidavit that would give probably cause to believe a crime has been committed and the subject of the warrant has committed that crime.

What's the crime?

How about conspiracy to commit campaign financing violations?

If Trump conspired with his lawyer to arrange for the payment to Stormy to keep her quiet before the election, and specifically had the lawyer pay rather than Trump in order to prevent any direct link to Trump.

There was no campaign contribution.

Mueller has never found anything. He has not even found a crime that did not arise out of his own questioning. What he is doing is trying to carry his investigation to everyone Trump has ever known just to keep himself relevant. Will anything Mueller found survive a motion to suppress? Democrats don't care. It's good for months of gossip.

Isn't this the same shit done to Bill Clinton? Yes. What goes around comes around.

Not even close.

Give me a fucking break they investigated one thing that led to another.

Trump was not a sitting president when he boned the airhead and he hasn't lied under oath.

Yup....trump in his brilliance threw Cohen under the bus and then dragged home from wheel to wheel to wheel....

if thats all the search of Cohens home/office amounted to - there could be another avenue that leads in another direction for Mueller

Nothing they find on Trump can be used due to attorney client privilege

Not on "criminal" conduct.
Attorney-client privilege ends when the lawyer starts breaking the law.

AND it has to be approved by a federal judge. Additionally, since the warrant is being served on an attorney's office, it has to go through several layers of approval.

LOL

You don’t get to see the affidavits.

The attorneys do. Do you know what a Motion to Traverse is? It's a motion to go behind the affidavits and question, under oath, the person who gave the information that the warrant is based on. It's an investigation as to the warrant itself. So yes, the attorneys will certainly get to see the affidavit and everything else too.

Stormy was such a good lay, Trump wanted to make her his next Apprentice!

I guess Trump couldn't stand the sight of Melania's stretch marks.

May well be the case- we just are completely speculating.

But he managed to convince a judge to violate the lawyer privilege- so I bet it will turn out to be 'something'

What does that have to do with other clients? Why does the FBI get to dig into all of their shit?

That's what pisses me off. This is some bullshit.
