Midterm elections usually reflect the electorate's "buyers' remorse"....

With the way town halls' skirmishes are going over repealing the ACA and replacing it with huge tax cuts for the rich.....AND the drip-drip-drip reports of Trump's insane flip-flops, AND the current polling on just how "pleased" trump backers are (except for the morons on this forum) ..... these upcoming midterms should be .....well, interesting.

Soon sane republicans in congress are going to have to make an important decision regarding their own fate: Do they back this pathological liar in chief, or do they worry about their own sorry hides November 2018?

(the 30 second ads by democrats are being produced as we type away.....lol)

Democrats can produce all they want.

They have no message to replace what is being done and Trump actually gives the appearance of doing something in an environment of cooperation.

Most people still remember that Obama would not work with his democratically controlled house and gave the appearance of not caring.

The press Trump is getting says something is going on.

So the idea that democrats are going to take back anything is ludicrous.

The midterms look good for the GOP right now and will look even better in a year.

Schumer will have fewer piss ants on his side and conservatives can only hope that Pelosi has enough embalming fluid in her to seek another term.

The brown buffoon screwed the dems and the US for years with his incompetency and ineptitude on foreign and domestic policy

Staged events... the GOP has nothing to worry about in 2018. No one can tell you what the dems stand for anymore. But I'll try, open borders, single payer government run health ins. Releasing prisoners before their sentence is finished, Sanctuary cities, carbon taxes, high income taxes, more debt, free education for illegal aliens, and big bucks in politics, That's not a winning list for the midterms.

Republicans have nothing to worry about in November 2018. Only 8 of them are running for reelection.

This election will reduce the democrat participation even further. They need to be politically wiped out.

Another right wing moron chimes in.....Do you realize that in the SENATE a flip of 3 republican seats would make a difference?.....Do you realize that ALL House seats are up for reelection?

These assholes are not working for the people, but for the $$$ giants that fund their campaign..

And yet we have had 3 elections that were supposed to show us that there was buyers remorse on Trump....in each one the democrats have lost......and then it is the next election that will show buyers remorse........keep going ....you may finally win one....

The consequence of the last election is that the Republican 'brand' is being systematically destroyed.

Oh really. We've changed the election laws have we? I musta fell asleep.

You're the same idiot I corrected on this same point before --- in any even numbered year EVERYBODY in the House is up for re-election, unless they choose to retire and then it's an open seat. And one-third of the Senate, same thing.

The OP is correct --- since these two parties have existed, with only three exceptions, whichever party has the White House always loses ground to the other party. The first exception didn't happen until 1934, amplifying FDR's landslide of two years prior and signifying approval for his taking on what Hoover would not. But the vast majority of mid-terms, regardless how easily the President won his office, including LBJ in '64, including Reagan in '84 --- the POTUS party loses seats. It's definitely a pattern. Perhaps the party in power has the curse of visibility, which magnifies any misstep they make - just a theory.

I call it a re-balance rather than a buyer's remorse. In many of these cases the electorate is overall satisfied with the President but they want a re-balance anyway. If they're not satisfied it can add fuel to the fire. If there are impeachment noises going on --- and Rump is certainly doing everything he can to generate them ---- then you have a likely sea change. So for 2018 it's realistically a question of how much damage the RP can contain.

And in this case the POTUS squeaked by in a razor-thin perfect storm election, losing the popular vote by three million. And even then the electorate voted for the cult of personality and not the party, most of which have no particular affinity with him. Rump can't pull a rabbit out of the hat by coming up with something positive -- it would have to be on the FDR scale --- but the more he looks like a bumbling idiot with fiascos like this week's Comey thing, the more he fuels the other side to make the association argument.

At the very least it's been muddled to the point where nobody knows what it is.

That's what happens when you have a head who doesn't even know himself what he's doing, and neither do his own people. Ideological anarchy.

We've had zero, Future-Man. Check your calendar. First mid-term is a year and a half away.

No dumb shit....we have had 3 elections......each one was pointed out as "THE" election that would show that support for Trump was over.....and so far the democrats have lost all 3.......
