Minced Meat

It would be in the pie crust/filling section before it would be in the meat aisle.

My mother used to make it before she stopped caring.

Some stores have it, others might not. Wal-Mart typically does. Wal-Mart has everything. Might just grab me a phone charger, a garden hose and a cheesy t-shirt while I'm there.

Brb going to Wal-Mart

Not that I know of. I think part of my difficulty comes from living in the far south, while it's a north-eastern recipe.

You're a cracka?
Define "cracka", please~? I otherwise have no way of knowing.

Southern white, usually called a racist by the oh so tolerant left
I could be~ though, if I said I was or wasn't, I know the lefttards would use it against me.

Well what a left tard says really doesn't matter, they have no power now.
Well, in that case, sure, I'm a "crackah". Though, I wasn't actually born in the south, I was born in Germany.

Edible t-shirts have more nutritional value than minced-meat pie.

Fact.

So, I was at the store with my mother, and she allowed me to see if they have minced meat, so I can make Minced Meat Pie. For those who don't know, Minced Meat is a mixture of raisins, apple, brandy, and rum. I asked three different employees... one took me to the meat section, looking through the cans, and asking if each one was what I made pie with... none of them even knew what it was.

Does anyone else have trouble finding this ingredient?

So it doesn't actually have meat? :dunno:

I have no idea. I've never heard of it as an actual thing to eat, only used in the expression "to make mincemeat out of" (pulverize).

I'm with Norwegen though, at least about the raisins. When I become emperor, raisins will be illegal. :death:

Here's a better idea ---- drop the N, get a cat and use micemeat. It's free.
Apparently not. Which causes one to ask; why name it that, then?

Try "The British Corner Shop". International shipping of various standard British products at high but not unreasonable prices. Some might not be shippable to The U.S. I suspect these would be OK because I regularly buy Eccles Cakes from them and they have mostly the same ingredients.

Really? So you're a racist fascist? LOL

Also... it's not Minced Meat Pie... it's Mincemeat Pie or Mince Pie.

That might be one of the problems you're having... in the South, "Minced Meat" is luncheon loaf... you make sandwiches out of it. It's like ham and pork bits mixed together.

Naw, just southern white~ I'd have to be a Democrat to be an actual racist. Like the Nazis and the KKK~

Come on, you know your history, you know better~

Oopsie~

Though, I'm pretty sure people who know what it is would know what I meant.

Fascinating ---- three posts in a row all whining about "intolerance" and all three self-generating it.

Can't make this up.
No, but you guys sure do love to insult AMERICANS from the south.

Oh izzat right.

------------------- Linkie?

Do you have any clue where I live? Or what my regional heritage is? Or is figuring that out over your head?

So where are these insults of mine that I never posted?
Like this?
Really? So you're a racist fascist? LOL

Retard.

Pumpkin, it is really easy to make your own mincemeat pie filling, even I can do it, and I don't even like it. It is in another league to store bought stuff.
I hadn't actually thought of doing so, or I wouldn't have bothered looking. I guess I never thought of the filling as something I could make, because my parents never made their own, either.

Naw, just southern right~ I'd have to be a Democrat to be an actual racist. Like the Nazis and the KKK~

Oddly enough there have been several wags on this very board that insist on rewriting "Democrats" into the Klan despite historical evidence but ------------------ Nazis?

You're actually suggesting that you had to be a Democrat to be a Nazi? :disbelief:

Perhaps mincemeat is not quite what you need.

I used to lie Mincemeat Pies.

Then I had several Christmases in England where every meal from about December 1 to December 21 was followed by a "free" miniature mincemeat pie.

I was cured!

The only time I ever had it was homemade. It was very good and I remembered wondering why it wasn't an adopted Southern tradition.

I think this is a Brit thing. Maybe you need like a World Market or sump'm that deals in international cuisine.

Because of the aforementioned British origin I ween. As the originators and custodians of our language they keep a broader more generalized definition for the term "meat" (which used to mean simply general "food") --- cf. "sweetmeat" (confections). Could be an alliteration thing.

Southern Democrats formed the KKK and the Nazis were Socialists, making them left wing. History doesn't have to be rewritten, except for the Lefties to try to distance themselves from those sources of embarrassment.

Southern Democrats did *not* form the KKK and I advise you not to even tread down this path as I am as well versed in this history as anyone. And the Nazis were "socialists" in name only, and no one in their right mind ever called them "left wing" --- that's absurd.

Revisionism of this magnitude, that would be your source of embarrassment.

Just try me. I've got this stuff all over this site, all I have to do is cut and paste it.

Your move. Prove me wrong, tell the class who formed the Klan. Names, places and dates. I already know.
