Minnesota Governor Signs Same-Sex Marriage Bill Into Law

If the Justices in Loving had seen into the future and knew that their decision would lead to the legalization of perversion they might have decided it differently.

If the writers of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights had seen into the future and knew their decisions would lead to equal rights for blacks, Indians, and women, they might have decided differently too.

Imposed on another state.

There's only one way this can end.

It wasn't imposed on the state, it was passed by dually elected representatives of the state after the call to enshrine the discrimination in the State Constitution was shot down last election be a vote at the ballot box.

Now, now, Chief. You know what she means....if the legislature decided differently than what SHE wants, it's "imposed".

There is no behavioral perversion in being black, indian or women. Although the way women vote, maybe that should have gotten a second thought.

While there is no behavioral perversion to being black or a worman, however it was considered immoral, unnatural, disgusting, and a perversion for a couple to exhibit the behavior of intermixing the races in an interracial marriage or sexual relationship.

 Oh...so Loving was the "slippery slope" ya'll cry wolf about. Took long enough...

Actually the 14th amendment was the "slippery slope"....making the government treat ever citizen equal in the eyes of the law. What were they THINKING?????

It's a state issue so if they want it in Minnesota that's fine, it just shouldn't be forced on all the states by the federal government or by judges

Yeah, those darn "activist judges"...

Loving v Virginia

Race and sexual preference don't equate... Sorry

The anti-miscegenation laws didn't limit Civil Marriage based on race, all races were allowed to marry. The limit was on the sexual preference on who you wanted to marry. If a white man (or woman) had a preference for a black woman (or man) - that is a preference.

I have preference for Darker women myself....I'm so relieved to hear that.

Minnesota governor signs same-sex marriage bill into law ? CNN Political Ticker - CNN.com Blogs

(CNN) – Minnesota became the 12th state to legalize same-sex marriages Tuesday after Gov. Mark Dayton, a Democrat, signed a bill giving same-sex couples the right to marry.

"It's history," his Twitter account read, along with a photo of him signing the bill on the Capitol steps. The state Senate on Monday voted 37-30 in favor of approving the legislation.

Have conservatives come out in support of this yet? The reason I ask is because this seems to be a textbook example of states' rights, and everyone knows how committed to states' rights conservatives are.

It is a matter of state's rights. The voters in the state have a right to punish the liberal legislature any way they want. Then they can repeal the law if they want. California can ban same sex marriage if we want.

Same sex marriage will end up like abortion. Tied up in courts as it gets chipped away. Unless the country follows history and goes down the shithole first.

It is impossible to force opinios on people that they don't hold. That's why direct action is being taken when the government has failed. In England gays are burned alive. In France and Russia they are beaten to death. I would personally not want that to happen here. But the way it is going it will be unavoidable.

Yes, it is avoidable. The hateful douchebags could NOT have violent tantrums.

Beating and burning us isn't going to stop marriage equality, but it WILL increase the prison population.

That's interesting since here in MN, after the ballot measure to define marriage in our Constitution as one man and one woman failed at the ballot box, Democrats took over the Legislature in both the Senate and the House.

Done the right way, through state legislative action, and not judicial fiat.

Seeking one’s civil liberties through the judicial system is also the right way, when the states refuse to acknowledge one’s civil liberties.

Actually the 14th Amendment compels the states to respect the equal protection rights of same-sex couples to marry, not the Federal government or judges, who administer the law.
