You aren't even talking about federal tax, New York State taxes are so high that a retired person can't even afford to pay the real estate taxes and buy food. Higher taxes stifle growth, kills jobs and discourages risk taking by potential entrepreneurs. When people are buying and selling and producing and hiring and developing... and capitalism is flourishing under fewer regulations and lower taxes the amount of money to the federal government increases. Why do you think we have such a large national debt? We have been raising taxes and regulation over the last decade or so and we have gone from 6 Trillion in debt to over 20 trillion in just one decade. If you have kids and or grandkids take note! they are screwed when the bill comes in.
