A shooter in Santa Monica killed six, and perhaps more. The shooter was shot to death before it was all over, at the Santa Monica College library by police.
The shooter has been identified as John Zawahri. His mother was out of the country, and once he was named, she cut her trip short and came back to the country. The police wish to question her, according to news reports, so as to possibly gain clues about what triggered the violence.
What the news stories are not telling you is that the shooter is Muslim.
Could it have been Islam that triggered the violence? Could it have been pre-meditated?

Think he's prob a Christian and mentally ill. Find it odd this story basically died out because it can't be used for political advantage

Where's the calls to pass legislation? oh wait, the guns were illegal. So no political advantage can be taken from the story... Unless they want to ban black powder guns, which he didn't even use. Just had with him.
It's because the reason he went on his shooting spree is because he was upset that mommy and daddy got a divorce.
The media and social engineers do not want people to be reminded that divorce affects children. Divorce is supposed to be GOOD for children. It makes them happier and more well adjusted than children from intact families. Nothing that interferes with that generally accepted truism will be allowed.
