You have to take that with the grain of salt. Serino also said he wanted to arrest Zimmerman and was overruled by his superiors (who have since resigned).

But here's the real problem the prosecution has. The police totally screwed this up, mostly because they interpreted Florida's bizarre laws in the wrong way. So they have a vested interest to prove they weren't the Keystone Cops.

And here comes the emerging meme when Zimmerman gets acquitted. The cops were incompetent. The prosecutor was incompetent. The prosecutor over-charged the case.
The plain truth is that Zimmerman acted lawfully in self defense and this was so obvious at the time the cops let him go. The only trouble came afterwards when the inner city Negro lobby pressured them to bring charges. But it was a shit case from the get go.

An all white Jury finding a white thug innocent of shooting an unarmed black child?

I always suspsected we would need a federal case to resolve this matter.

If the State acquits him, the Feds will step in.

Martin was unarmed when he was shot to death, police said, and some accuse Zimmerman of targeting the teenager solely because of the color of his skin.

WFTV legal analyst Bill Sheaffer said federal prosecutors would have to prove the hate crime to charge Zimmerman, though.

“What the government would have to prove is that Mr. Zimmerman acted out of hatred toward African-Americans. That's why he came into contact with him. That's why he shot and killed him," Sheaffer said.

Sheaffer said a federal hate crime murder charge could bring more serious consequences than the second-degree murder charge Zimmerman faces now.

Double Jeopardy is dead and has been for a very long time. We just keep the illusion of double jeopardy because we can't stand to admit that it's really gone.

Double jeopardy protection is a sovereign exercise. The state and federal courts are independent of one another. There can be a trial in state court for breaking state laws. Then there can be a trial in federal court for breaking federal laws. If Zimmerman is acquitted, he can be immediately rearrested and tried in federal court. It happens every day.

Sadly, Joe doesn't want to look at the actual facts or evidence in this case.
He has admitted that the only fact that counts is that Trayvon is dead, and Zimmerman killed him....therefore, Zimmerman is guilty of murder.
You can come to this conclusion as long as you don't admit there is other evidence to the contrary.
Joe is running on emotion....no more than emotion. I quit debating with him because he can't get past his emotion.
