Nanny/Police State: NYC Ban On Large Sugared Drinks...

What fucking moron thinks that banning soda in anything larger than a 16 oz container will cure obesity?

Hell if these fucktards were really serious they'd make kids do an hour of calisthenics every day at school. At least that would actually make a difference.

there it is.....that would make a difference......

So forcing one's way of thinking on others is a characteristic more likely to be that of a conservative?

Conservatives tend to let people exercise thier liberty and DEAL with the consequences. But you knew that, didn't you?

No they don't. Stop lying.

Conservatives want law and order. That requires limiting liberty.

Conservatives want to amend the constitution to ban same sex marriage AND abortion. Where's the liberty in that?

Conservatives want to spend billions of dollars telling other countries how they should act. Where's the liberty in that?

Conservatives want law and order

Liberals dont?.....

It just means there will be TWO 12 oz. cups in a landfill rather than ONE 16 oz. cup.

I doubt it. But it certainly points to the ignorance of conservative tendency to want to control bad behavior.

are you serious?....come to California if you want to see the Liberal in action trying to control "bad behavior"....right now the latest "bad behavior" is plastic bag use....

It's all for the childen, don't ya know. Totalitarian scoundrels always resort to claiming it's all for the children. They're very devious & pathetic that way.

In Singapore it was determined that chewing gum was bad for teeth so they made chewing gum illegal to reduce the burden on dental care.

Who would have thought that Demolition Man would be a vision of the future.

thats not why.....they were tired of people spitting it out on sidewalks and depositing it everywhere but the trash can....geezus do some research...

The notably clean and well-kept public spaces in the country of Singapore are likely to make quite an impression on visitors. The same can be said for the items in Singapore law that enforce and ensure the **** and span public spaces. One such law is the well-publicized ban on chewing gum, which was implemented in Singapore in 1992.

The ban on chewing gum in Singapore was implemented by the new Prime Minister, Goh Chok Tong, in January of 1992. Previously, the issue of banning chewing gum in Singapore had been a point of discussion among other important leaders of the country. In particular, Lee Kuan Yew, considered the country’s founding father, had vocalized his concerns about the fouling effects that chewing gum in Singapore seemed to be having on the streets, buildings, buses, subways, and other public spaces.

Chewing gum was being left of on sidewalks, and other public areas, rather than being properly disposed of in designated garbage receptacles. This was costing the government large amounts of money to remove and clean, as well as causing damage to the cleaning equipment itself, which then cost more money to replace. Vandals were reportedly leaving used chewing gum in keyholes, on elevator buttons, and in mail boxes, causing a number of challenges in maintaining the order and cleanliness in Singapore

If only we could be like Singapore. Problems solved.

I remember when Paper or Plastic began at the grocer....and we were made to feel evil if we said "Paper" because paper meant we were killing all the trees in the rain forest....so Plastic was the "good" thing to use....

so now plastic is the evil one? hahahahaha, oh geez!

Twice now, recently, I have seen Customers ask for paper bags, one was an off duty Employee. I'm still trying to build up the nerve. We like to use paper bags to better ripen fruit.

and the thing that pisses me off is they have bio-degradable plastic bags that look just like the ones they use now, same size, same tensile strength......but they were rejected for these canvas pieces of shit.....gee i wonder why?.....

Why should someone who uses a piece of shit canvas bag, subsidize someone who's too lazy to? Why should they have to pay the additional landfill costs?
