NBC poll: Christie faces divided GOP, trails Clinton in hypothetical '16 race - First Read

There’s also a striking geographical divide: A majority of Northeast Republicans (57 percent to 22 percent) say they would support Christie in a GOP primary.

But pluralities of Republicans in other parts of the country prefer another GOP candidate – in the Midwest (by 35 percent to 30 percent), the South (29 percent to 27 percent) and the West (40 percent to 22 percent).

On Monday, The New York Times highlighted this Republican split over Christie, especially after establishment Republicans have cheered his possible 2016 candidacy.

But the split within the GOP goes much deeper than just Christie. It is TP against the Establishment. It is Ultra-Conservative against the Moderates. It is Karl Rove against....well, whatever loon the Baggers try to push through the Primaries. COOL!

I don't doubt that folks in other parts of the country prefer other candidates over Christie; doesn't mean that he can't win.

.

Christie would be the GOP's best shot against Hillary, but even if he made it through the nomination process, he'd be so beat to shit (by his own party) that she'd walk right over him.

The GOP really needs to decide what it is.

.

It already decided what it is.

It is the political arm of big corporations and plutocrats.

The only question is, when will stupid, working class white people wake up to this fact.

One poll I seen a month ago shown the party is split right down the middle. This isn't good if you want republicans winning anything.

Duh... Christie is just a white Obama in my book. His post Sandy fiasco was his undoing

Working class works for corporations.

The GOP is just beginning an internal struggle that might leave it will huge open sores. It is going to be interesting. Christie has the most overall appeal of any Repub. But he will be fought tooth and nail by the Baggers and the Ultras.

Karl might have to reappear to push the big man through.

Corporations are the number one reason we're a first world nation ;) Now I do think they're a little greedy and should pay people better.

I don't think it's going to go that far.

Christie has had a Horrible record of economic growth in NJ. Just because he got a pass from the Democrats this year doesn't mean he'll get it from either his republican opponents or Hillary.

Unemployment: New Jersey’s unemployment rate is 8.5 percent, considerably higher than the national rate of 7.3 percent, making the state 41st in the nation.

Job creation: New Jersey ranks 44th in job growth during Christie’s governorship.

Credit rating: Three major credit agencies have cut the state’s credit rating since Christie became governor, making it costlier to borrow money.

Economic growth: In 2011, New Jersey was just one of seven U.S. states whose economy shrank. The state ranked 47th in terms of GDP growth.

Taxes: New Jersey is tied for 50th in the Tax Foundation’s annual report, which ranks which states have the most business-friendly (translation: lowest) taxes. Plus, the tax burden grew by 18.6 percent for the average family under Christie.

Home prices and foreclosures: Mortgage delinquencies have increased 2.8 percent since Christie took over, the highest of any state in the nation. Plus, home prices are down 6.7 percent in that time, putting New Jersey in the bottom quarter of all states.

Poverty: Although this statistic may not resonate with Republican primary voters, the poverty rate in New Jersey has reached a 52-year high, with 24.7 percent of the state below the poverty level.

Of course, Christie isn’t responsible for all these economic woes. He is governor, not king of New Jersey. But that doesn’t mean his opponents in the 2016 GOP primaries won’t run negative ads showing the New Jersey statistics, followed by the tag line: “Can America really afford Chris Christie as president?”

A lot can happen to the state’s economy between now and then. But unless the economic numbers improve greatly, Christie will be wishing people were still just talking about his weight and not what matters most: his record.

karl Rove is the first thing the Pubs need to eject from the party if they are ever to change.

And take his white board with him

No, they work for themselves and their families.

Corporations are just cheating them out of the worth of their labor.

Your perception is not reality.

Reality- Corporations are parasites that have convinced stupid people like you they are vital organs.

Reality - You don't offer the skills to make you valuable for gainful employment. Your employers would rather get rid of you then care for you. I suspect from your displays here that you a problem worker.

It is YOU.

actually, I've worked for the current company for the last six years (while half my department has been eliminated) and the previous one for six years. I've gotten multiple awards for proficiency and maximum amounts on reviews.

But the corporate world still sucks and capitalism is still evil.

Deal with it.
