Well, if you are a minimum wage restaurant worker and you lose your job now that it’s $15/hour, you’ll have to switch to doing the next best thing:

Get elected as a ‘Rat congresscritter......Occasionally Cortext did!... Communists have no idea about market forces.

The Big Apple’s fast-food industry, The New York Times recently reported, has long served as a laboratory for progressive politicians and the nation’s labor machine.

$15 an hour is a helluva lot of money to pay a man to wash dishes, even in New York!!!

But if you have to pay it, you can switch to paper plates and plastic flatwear that can just be carted off to the landfill after 1 use for less.

Price controls, wage controls and rent control always have bad consequences.

Patrons of five star restaurants love paper plates and plastic forks

I guess you are being sarcastic, but why should 5 star diners be treated any better than those lower on the Food Chain?

I forsee a rash of "kitchen fires" and "gas leak explosions" at New York's fine restaurants.

This isn't going to kill the 5 star restaurants, it's going to kill the small places along major commuter routes that have to compete with 10 other places just like them.

Oh no!

That $200 dinner you and the wife just had might cost you another 20 bucks!

I don’t know about you people, I’ll be happy to piss away $200 bucks for dinner but $220 is out of the question!

Not according to business insider

New York City restaurant workers saw their pay increase by 20% after a $15 minimum-wage hike, and a new report says business is booming despite warnings that the boost would devastate the city's restaurant industry.

As New York raised the minimum wage to $15 this year from $7.25 in 2013, its restaurant industry outperformed the rest of the US in job growth and expansion, a new study found.

The study, by researchers from the New School and the New York think tank National Employment Law Project, found no negative employment effects of the city increasing its minimum wage to $15.

Restaurant workers in the city saw a pay increase of 20% to 28%, representing the largest hike "for a big group of low-wage workers since the 1960s," James Parrott, a director of economic and fiscal policies at the New School and an author of the study, told Gothamist.

NYC's $15 minimum wage hasn't brought the restaurant apocalypse — it's helped them thrive
