Newt Gingrich on "Meet the Press" - GOP handed two big gifts

So Newt is basically saying on two of the most important issues Republicans pushed against (especially ACA)....The Republicans were dead wrong and the public was against them, so the Supreme Court saved the party from looking like a bunch of a$$hats.

The only problem with his theory is there are another dozen or so other policy stances Republicans take that make them look like a$$hats as well, so dropping 2 of them won't do as much as he hopes.
The public had nothing to do with upholding either ACA or gay marriage. The public remains against obamacare and is just now getting a taste of where legalized perversion will go.

So you're saying Newt is wrong and the GOP should continue their agenda against ACA and gay marriage into 2016?
Absolutely. I totally agree.

Meh. Standard cut-and-paste meme, anyone can make one of those. And all this time you thought you were "creative".

The difference is the Tea Party will either say "what's chess" or, you forgot the "T".

Just finish watching meet the press. Newt said the Supreme Court, when it upheld Obamacare, saved the GOP from the headache of trying to provide healthcare for millions of people.

He said that Gay Marriage was a gift (paraphrasing) that took away the discussion of the GOP hatred of gays just in time for 2016.

Now, he has Bobby Jindal saying again and again that the Bible says marriage is between one man and one woman. Anyone who has actually read the Bible knows that Bible marriages are between one man and multiple women and one of the only marriages involving one man and one woman was Adam and Eve. And they were NEVER married.

Newt as usual, was right. By leaving Obamacare intact, eventually the people are going to find out just how bad of a clusterfuck it really is. Eventually the blame will come down on the Democrats.

The Democrats will blame the failure on the Republicans saying it failed because the GOP never supported it.
The Democrat's never accept blame for anything.
It's always the other guys fault.

Repeal, replace, Benghazi. The only time the Republicans get worked up is if they see a campaign slogan. There won't be a failure, although you may see legislation making it better. I guarantee Republicans won't be involved, that would force them to have some conscience, empathy or caring kind of like a morning sun to Dracula.

I hate to ask for links because posting an Internet email can be so hard to prove. But you went and posted it, so now I need the resources you used to make the claim so I can examine and refute. Don't ask me to look it up since if you had done your homework originally I wouldn't have to.

Actually, replace Obama with "the world" and you got it mostly right. At least you've been keeping track of GOP fuckups. Obama wasn't even sworn in until 2009.

Most all of the GOP candidates are saying they want to get rid of the ACA, yet NOBODY has come up with a solid plan of what they would replace it with.

And..............over 10 million people are happy with the ACA, and if the GOP gets rid of it, that's a whole lot of pissed off voters.

BTW..................didn't the GOP run on a platform of jobs? All they've done is vote over 50 times to repeal the ACA, try to defend DOMA (unsuccessfully), and screamed about Benghazi.

I've yet to see either Boehner or McConnell push for a decent jobs bill. All they've done is lobby with Obama to pass the TPP, which is NAFTA and CAFTA on steroids. All the TPP is going to do is ship more manufacturing jobs overseas.

Newt was right, and especially with the gay marriage ruling. The Republicans will have their bench Candidates, Jindal, Huckabee, etc, harp about it just to keep Republicans from getting depressed, and the Tier 1 candidates will keep relatively quiet about it.

That's just going to be for the primaries. When the general election comes around, repealing Obamacare will be a big issue, and you will hear whatever Republican candidate wins the nomination say crap like "I will uphold the law", and that's it
I think they will stop talking about Healthcare unless one gets into office. Republicans have no problem screwing over millions of Americans. We've see it in the last three Republican presidents. Why? Because they are elitists. The GOP definition of elitist.
I have a different take on it, and I'm not disagreeing with anything you said in particular.

I think the myths are that the ACA will either save healthcare or ruin it.

I believe history will look upon it as a half measure that occurred during America's transition to a single payer government system.

In the mean time, championing the ACA, or repealing it, is simply political theatre

I'm going to regret this I know...but exactly how does the ACA "screw" Americans?

You've seen the rebuttals 100 times.

You really don't care about the truth.....

It's a meme and you are well aware of that fact.

So you're saying Newt is wrong and the GOP should continue their agenda against ACA and gay marriage into 2016?
Absolutely. I totally agree.

The public was against a lot of things.

It is unfortunate that we really can't separate the Health Care Issue (and it is a big issue in my estimation) from the rest of the Rhetoric.

I don't know that we'll ever get a clean discussion on the ACA and Health Care (I am not a fan of the ACA, but don't believe we have any other serious proposals on the table).

I also don't know that we'll ever get a good clean discussion on our debt.

The POLS just can't shut up linking them all over the place and confusing the hell out of everybody.

The GOP was against the ACA from the start and has systematically taken back the Senate so I don't agree that the public is against them. Something has changed and I am not sure what it is.

The dem from CO lost....that was a blow that should wake people up.

Keep dreaming the dream. If republicans want to gain the moral high ground on the health care issue then they need some better ideas rather than just this blind urge to vandalize and destroy the health care law. Right now they look like a bunch of assholes who would have turned somersaults joy if millions of people in their states had just lost coverage if the court had ruled in their favor.

Do you think I'd shed a single tear if millions of people lost their welfare checks, food stamps, and Obamaphones?

Look at my eyes.
I never claimed any republican gave a shit about the disadvantaged, you guys revel in being dickholes.

Did I claim to be a Republican? Not really, I'm one of those evil "right-wingers" and a Christian Sympathizer. Guess how many guns I keep in the trunk of my car, and you'll win a prize.

But historically speaking, it was after all the Republicans who freed the slaves, gave the women the right to vote, and passed the Civil Rights Act. I will say that much for them.

And it has been mostly Democrats who "disadvantaged" them. And only for votes, not altruism.

That 20% called moderates, or independents are watching, so it is all good for the end of the party of Democrats, for generations to come.

And some idiots will actually belive they will do anything about Obamacare.
