The recent elections were conducted in a democratic environment, despite conspiracies working to ensure the latter, the National Intelligence and Security Service (NISS) Director has said.
Lt. Gen (Eng.) Mohamed Atta Al-Mawla Abass said the Sudanese people gave a lesson in nationalism through their effective participation in the Presidential and Parlimentarian elections.
During an address yesterday at the graduation of batch 79 and batch 5 technicians, he announced that next summer will be decisive and aim to bring an end to the rebellion in the country, noting that the Armed Forces and other security services are working in the other regions of Kordofan and Darfur to repulse rebellions.
Abass further renewed the call to arms groups to partake in the national dialogue and contribute towards the progress of peace, development and stability, stressing that the NISS will go ahead in support of the Armed Forces and the other security services.
He said the graduation of this batch of the NISS comes at a time when the country is witnessing a crucial phase in its history for the realisation of renaissance and the buildup of peace, lauding the struggles of the Sudanese people and their participation in election operation.
The NISS director further said that the highly aware Sudanese people headed to the ballot boxes to select their representatives in the National Assembly, the Legislative Council and the Presidency of the Republic despite the rumors circulated by the skeptics that the National Intelligence Service is apprehending people.
Abass said Sudan is seeing expansive relations with all the Arab countries as well as strong relations with African countries, adding: “We say to President Al Bashir to go ahead with the national dialogue and the progress of reconstruction and leave the issue of ending the rebellion to the National Intelligence Service and its personnel.”
Meanwhile, NISS Operations Manager, Brigadier Ali Al-Naseeh said the graduates received all training, including physical and in arms, and implemented the long walk programme in addition to mobilisation and cultural projects.

Remember when Bashir promised his country that he wouldn't run for office again? Yay democracy! ;)
