Younger Russian Troops get combat experience; and Russian Air Power gets to put their skills and aircraft to the test. The newest armor gets to get tested, as well as the ammunition.

Putin, by going offensive on ISIS ----> is inviting a terrorist retaliation in the Russian Federation. Why would he do that? But of course, if a terror group did get caught inside Russia ; I would not feel sorry for them ; Putin would have no mercy. Russia is not Britain, there are no rights in Russia, they will just beat the terrorist to death - torture them, then kill them.

Wait till now to go offensive against ISIS? Russia gets involved in a MAJOR conflict. Again......Why?

ISIS started as a small faction that quickly grew to overwhelming numbers before the United States could control them - Obama himself acknowledged this on television.

ISIS, going against one of the greatest terror supporters in the Middle East. A country whose government finances terror in the Middle East, Europe, Indonesia and other locations.

Why would ISIS bite the hands that feeds them, either directly or indirectly? What would they gain by killing Assad = Nothing.

The West does not need a terror group to help overthrow Assad. They could use many other means.......more cheaper and more reliable, than a terror group.
