No One Has a Right to Health Care

No One Has a Right to Health Care
by Jacob G. Hornberger February 3, 2016

Democratic Presidential candidate Bernie Sanders says that everyone has a right to health care. Unfortunately, none of his presidential opponents, Democrat or Republican, is going to challenge him on the point. They’re too scared that they’d lose votes by challenging a standard socialist shibboleth in America.

Sanders’ assertion only goes to show how American socialists (i.e., progressives) have warped and perverted the concept of rights within the minds of the American people. The fact is that no one has a right to health care any more than he has a right to a home, a car, food, spouse, or anything else.

The correct concept of rights was enunciated by Thomas Jefferson in the Declaration of Independence, the document that Americans ironically celebrate every Fourth of July. Jefferson observed that people have been endowed with certain unalienable rights, among which are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

Since the Republican tax cuts you people seem to be making out like bandits. I wouldn't really care if your own would go and help fight your wars. You declare them for political reasons and let the sons and daughters of others go fight and die.

Sure they do.....they're ill educated and realize that even risking death it's the best deal they'll ever get. The elitist Republicans planned it that way. During Bush's wars Michael Moore questioned each of the 535 members of our house and senate. Guess What......not a one of them had a family member serving in a combat zone........DUUUUUHHHH

How many Democrats have a family member on Obama Care?

My wife and I have been retired for 22 years. We're on Medicare and we pay close to $6,000 each year for supplemental insurance to be sure one life threatening illness doesn't bankrupt us. All the hell ObamaCare does is to guarantee poor people a chance at something besides the emergency room. The Republican mantra:

1) Don't Get Sick
2) If You Do Get Sick....Die Quickly

We're the only one of the industrialized countries in the world who doesn't provide universal health care. We're also the only one of the industrialized countries who has a thousand insurance companies.

Not to worry.....now their big push is to privatize education.....they've already privatized prisons.

That's great for the well to do selfish Republicans. What about most of the families in my state who have to make do on less than $40,000 a year? I just told you that my wife and I are on Medicare and have to pay an additional $6,000 a year for supplemental insurance. You people have no shame.

I guess I should sell my house and buy something cheaper? maybe give up a car? or, how about I just stop the family vacations or maybe eating. What is it that I have that I pay for that I dont deserve.

Guess what? most of those people you think are just rolling in the cash are house poor.
paying for you could be the one thing that breaks them

Typical Republican bullshit! I've heard it for the last forty years. The bottom line is that those at the top want to be sure they keep their stuff so they do whatever is necessary to prevent change. The only change they like is tax cuts for the wealthy. I challenge you to make an honest evaluation of the Bush years.

George W. Bush assumed an economy with an unemployment rate of 4.3%. The budget was balanced with surpluses projected all the way to a completely paid off national debt. The first thing he did was to reduce tax rates for the wealthy in 2001 and again in 2003. Then he proceeded to double the national debt from $5.7 trillion to nearly $12 trillion. He effectively borrowed $6 trillion from foreign banks and funneled it into the pockets of the rich in the form of tax cuts. What a goddamned idiot!

no, the republicans would rather see everyone in the country provide for themselves.
I dont think thats asking too much, do you?

That's great for the well to do selfish Republicans. What about most of the families in my state who have to make do on less than $40,000 a year? I just told you that my wife and I are on Medicare and have to pay an additional $6,000 a year for supplemental insurance. You people have no shame.

Like I said......the Republican mantra:

1) Don't Get Sick

2) If You Do Get Sick....Die Quickly
How about the people that are currently living right at the financial edge of their means that will be seriously impacted when they have to supply insurance for those that feel like they should have everything handed to them?
I guess I should sell my house and buy something cheaper? maybe give up a car? or, how about I just stop the family vacations or maybe eating. What is it that I have that I pay for that I dont deserve.

What you just said is right wing bullshit. Poor folks pay no taxes and barely make it from payday to payday.....'course you rich people don't have a clue about that.
and you leaches seem to think that because someone has a nice house and a nice car, they can afford to hand over a few thousand so you dont have to apply yourself.

Im not concerned with the Bush years, in case you have failed to notice, those years are behind us.
Im concerned with the BS going down right now that threatens to reduce my quality of life that I have worked for.
Why should I give away my money to someone I dont know instead of using it for my own family?
How about you just dig in your pocket and pay extra to cover these lazy bastards you are so concerned with.

Na, not really.
Any type of mandatory insurance is legalized extortion, that simple.
It would have been soooo much better for everyone if obamacare was an opt in or opt out choice.

No Shit!!

The Republicans would love something as simple as sacrificing the poorest people in the country. Like I just explained. The Republican mantra:

1) Don't Get Sick
2) If You Do Get Sick....Die Quickly

Odd, wasn't it Obama that told the girl with the sick, elderly mother that rather than get treatment she should "just take a pain pill"?

Talk about just die already... you people are priceless.

Liberal compassion:

Member of the audience. Jane Sturm: “My mother is now over 105. But at 100, the doctors said to her, ‘I can’t do anything more unless you have a pacemaker.’ I said, ‘Go for it.’ She said, ‘Go for it.’ But the specialist said, ‘No, she’s too old.’ But when the other specialist saw her and saw her joy of life, he said, ‘I’m going for it.’ That was over five years ago. My question to you is: Outside the medical criteria for prolonging life for somebody who is elderly, is there any consideration that can be given for a certain spirit, a certain joy of living, a quality of life, or is it just a medical cutoff at a certain age?”

Obama: “I don’t think that we can make judgments based on people’s ‘spirit.’ Uh, that would be, uh, a pretty subjective decision to be making. I think we have to have rules that, uh, say that, uh, we are going to provide good quality care for all people. End-of-life care is one of the most difficult sets of decisions that we’re going to have to make. But understand that those decisions are already being made in one way or another. If they’re not being made under Medicare and Medicaid, they’re being made by private insurers. At least we can let doctors know — and your mom know — that you know what, maybe this isn’t going to help. Maybe you’re better off, uhh, not having the surgery, but, uhh, taking the painkiller.”

Should all veterans have health care?

Yes they should. Why would you ask that?
If no one has a right to health care, does that mean "no one" or actually some Americans do have a right? So if some Americans do have a right to health care then who decides and decides on what basis?
I think the ability to pay would be the deciding factor. Dont you?
So veterans should be required to pay for medical care if they have the ability to pay? What about those in the military that have the ability to pay and what about those that claim they do not have that ability to pay. And what of those in combat that do not have the ability to pay?

Well...you should be. He was the sorriest excuse for a president in my lifetime.....'course I'm just 81.

In Article I, Section 8, of the Constitution, it states that The Congress shall have Power

To raise and support Armies, but no Appropriation of Money to that Use shall be for a longer Term than two Years;

We're the only industrialized nation in the world which doesn't provide total health care for all it's citizens. We're also the only one with a thousand insurance companies.
