Conservatives are a drag on human evolution. Thats pretty much their job in life is to be afraid of technological advancement unless its with guns and bombs. Why do you believe sustainable energy sources can't work?I have a 65" OLED that cost more than that. It depends on the size and picture quality. In 1999 a flat screen TV cost $1,500! You can get eight TVs for that today. How many thousands does it cost to have your own EV charging station at your home? Let alone the cost in your electric bill. The soon to be extinct middle class sure as hell can't afford to buy a EV.Biden has promised to install 500K 'highway' charging stations. Where is the electricity needed to quick charge your Tesla while you eat your twenty dollar Big Mac? From ancient 'leaking' power lines coming from hydro electric stations five hundred miles away? What kind of equipment is needed to drill geothermal holes???????? You know. The equipment is impossible to manufacture without using fossil fuels! The steel casings aren't made from bamboo!I think tidal power will always be rough to sustain especially with increased climate change. But we could do a lot more with geothermal if the govt really got behind it instead subsidizing oil, gas, and coal exploration. Iceland runs on it.
Fucking wise up!
Nothing is ever emission free the point is to have a power source that in the net produces more emission free power than it takes to make the equipment.
Right now a car will pollute the air significantly more than the process to make the car does.
What about the other Tesla owners lined up behind you waiting for their charge-up?
That's a real problem with EVs. But I do think EVs have a place. Most people drive less than 40 miles to work daily and less than that conducting daily business like shopping, going to the bank etc.
Personally this is where I think an EV is a good choice since it's the daily drive not the occasional long road trip that contribute to emissions and pollution
"Guess what honey? I just got a raise to $15 an hour!. Now we can afford to buy that 80K Tesla and have a 10K charging station installed! "
My point was advances in technology make for cheaper technology. A 1999 flat screen can't compare to the performance off a 2021 flat screen, sure. But you got less for more twenty years ago.
The costs are borne by the initial adapters. I bought a new roof for my house in 2010. I was the very first home owner in my town to install a standing seam steel roof. A 987 sq. ft. house roofed for $8,400.
Within five years, there were dozens of homes with metal roofs and the cost has been reduced by 15% . I retired as the county building inspector four years ago, so the information I gave is accurate.
How much computing power could $1,500 buy ten years ago. How much could it buy today?
And no one forced people to buy those roofs, those computers or those televisions...........they are going to force people to buy electric vehicles even though they can't produce the electricity for those vehicles with solar and wind....and will need coal, oil, and natural gas to produce those electric cars...
