Obama and Trump

My life was the same with Obama as POTUS as it is with DJT. We debate and razz one another a lot on this site but has anyone’s life been specifically impacted by either POTUS and if so, how?

Thanks

PS. —- I still think the current Democrat Party has gone insane.

Again…my assistant (at the time—she’s been promoted) had a special needs child who couldn’t work or support himself. The ACA which was 100% Obama’s creation allowed the teen to stay on my assistant’s insurance. The result was that the same excellent care, therapy, support, and familiarity with doctors, specialists and facilities was able to continue uninterrupted. This was 100% due to the election in 2008 of Obama.

I imagine anyone who had a kid with medical issues who turned 18 during the Obama years after the ACA was passed had a similar experience. When they were able to keep their kids on the insurance while they went to college, took their gap year, or began working at a place that offered minimal benefits, it was not only good for the child/young adult but also good from the standpoint of you knowing that your kid is protected.

The costs to the republic and to anyone else? $0.00.

True but it also prolongs adolescence. Kids should be able to take care of themselves by 25. I had to get off my folks insurance post college graduation and had to hustle and find a job to ensure that I had health insurance. There are pros and cons to every decision. Thank you for sharing. But that didn’t impact you. It impacted your assistant.

How so? It didn’t impact me as I have a family plan and my kids are young. Hence my OP.

No. You offered an opinion about there being a magical age where kids should be able to take care of themselves. But please, tell us a dollar amount of what it costs.

As an admin assistant with a dependent if it as an individual plan she paid little in Premiums. She would have been heavily subsidized.

I get it but we are again extending adolescence and not providing our kids coping skills. I believe Disabled kids can remain on ones insurance so long as they are legal dependents anyway.

No. She paid what anyone else on our group insurance paid who covered dependents.

What was your 401k the 2 years before?

He probably does not even know how to look at his 401k. There is zero doubt it grew faster the 2 years before since we are now in day 465 of market stagnation.

No, things are much better under Trump. Unemployment is so low that companies for the first time in decades are forced to raise wages past the rate of inflation to attract qualified employees.

Energy prices are low allowing individuals to stretch their budgets, and companies to operate at lower costs. That savings can be used elsewhere to invest, or buy necessities, or even for leisure items. The Media never mentions this fact.

Just two items that are better without Obama or any Democrat in the White House.

No. Because kids eventually turn 27 and don’t possess the coping skills to live as adults without dependency on their parents. All BHO did was extend adolescence. Now that didn’t impact me at all but I found this action puzzling. You cannot measure everything in $$. The economy is cranking and you still vilify DJT. You’re being a hypocrite.

I disagree that allowing children to stay on an insurance policy till 25 (where did the 27 come from?) extends adolescence. Our daughter who just turned 24 stayed on my policy till she graduated college and got a job, at which time she was able to provide her own insurance. She was not an adolescent while going through nursing school, but she was busy as hell and not having to worry about going to the doctor if she got sick helped her to focus on what was important.

It had nothing to do with coping skills, it had to do with common sense.

No. He made it to where you can extend insurance to your child past 18. Your opinion on adolescence and dependence is your own business. The cost of this part of the ACA remains $0.00.

It gets into the weeds a bit but just because you have insurance doesn’t mean you get proper medical care. There are physicians with whom you “click” and there are physicians with whom you do not. If you’ve been on your mom’s Aetna plan for 15 years and have seen Dr. Smith over in Scottsdale…you may (or may not) like Smith’s approach to treating your disease. Even if you are able to get your own insurance after turning 18 and working at Target or Wal*Mart, Dr. Smith may not be on your insurance so you can avoid the costs of the insurance and having to go see another doctor….and it doesn’t cost anyone outside of you or your family a penny.

Seems like a win-win.
