you have to be a leader to unite.....we haven't had one yet this Century....
Yeah the GOP's "my way or we'll hold our breath til we turn purple" approach bears absolutely no responsibility for the divides we have in our country .....
I'll bet that was Obama on the grassy knoll too, huh?
YES - Obama should have sent someone who currently represents the U.S. but please ....

Joe Twyman: Margaret Thatcher and Public Opinion: It Was the Best of Times; It Was the Worst of Times
there was a thread in here a while back about the Falkland Islands.....a whole bunch of Americans were in the thread saying how the people who live there hate the Brits and how the Brits themselves feel it should be given to Argentina ........Colin who is from Britain and fought in that war and i believe it was Swagger another brit.....said that these posters were full of shit and showed a bunch of stuff showing how the people who live there want the British to govern them not Argentina and that the Brits themselves don't want to give it back to Argentina......the thread ended right there.....opinion pieces are just that.....
Yet another tacky, unstatesmanlike performance from The Won. Neither he nor any active member of his administration will attend Thatcher's funeral. It's a state occasion, given that the Queen is participating. So much for our "special relationship".
Maybe he'll send the family an ipod with some of his speeches as a consolation prize.
I'll also note that the terrorist attack in Benghazi didn't prevent Obama from flying off to Las Vegas for a fundraiser the next day.
Friends and allies of Baroness Thatcher expressed 'surprise and disappointment' last night as it emerged President Obama is not planning to send any serving member of his administration to her funeral.
Whitehall sources have revealed that the US delegation at tomorrow's service in St Paul's Cathedral will be led by two Reagan era secretaries of state: James Baker and George Shultz.
Though President Obama himself had not been expected to attend, there had been speculation that he would be represented either by Vice President Joe Biden or wife Michelle. However, the Obama administration had said it would not be attending Thatcher's funeral before the Boston bombings
Other world leaders, including Canada's Stephen Harper, Mario Monti of Italy and Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, are attending the service in person.
President Obama paid tribute to Lady Thatcher's towering achievements when her death was announced last week.
But a US embassy spokesman confirmed that no serving member of his administration would be present to pay their last respects, citing a busy week in US domestic politics.
Former US vice president Dick Cheney and ex-secretary of state Henry Kissinger will attend the funeral, Downing Street said today...

From this great article:
Thatcher did not forget her enemies either.
It was the Soviet Union that first called her "the Iron Lady", a nickname that gave her great pleasure as it was used to describe her implacable opposition to communism.
Oleg Gordievsky, a former KGB colonel and a long-term double agent for the British intelligence services, is invited, as is the former Soviet dissident Vladimir Bukovsky.
Mikhail Gorbachev, the last president of the Soviet Union, said that his ill-health would prevent him attending.

Telling someone to abort themself and assuming that they are a "commie" is the behavior of an extremist.
Yep. And who cares, really? It's not as if Thatcher accomplished anything important. Just another blow hard rightwing nutter.
No, it's not like she was a staunch supporter, and friend and ally of the United States. You Liberal loons are despicable, and now you can add tacky and adolescent to your questionable moral standings.
And, no matter what, the right wingers are ALWAYS against their own country. I've been reading some of the threads here this morning and its the SSDD - rw's despise their country.
You need to read up on Thatcher.
In MHO the Republicans bear about 75-80% of the blame for the divides this country is facing right now.Sure the Rs have done their part in it, however they aren't the President.

Sure the Rs have done their part in it, however they aren't the President. The presidents of the United States don't name call the other political party, they lead. They set the tone. So far, Obama's tone has been to whine, name call, or ignore. How childish. Sorry, if he wants more of us to get behind him then he needs to do his job. I won't be holding my breath.

How many Republican initiatives has Obama vetoed? How many filibusters have the GOP conducted?
Obama is the poster child for why electing a Community Organizer as POTUS is a frelling disaster.

The republicans in the House will not do anything bipartisan becasue their base doesn't want compromise. You or I can point out the defiencies in Obama (and Pelosi), but the result of the election, in which Obama won pretty easily, but in which the gop's voters message in the House was very clear, is just not debateable. In fact Obama could probably just capitulate on an issue, and the gop would still walk away from victory just to walk away.
Obama still should have sent Biden or the Clintons though. Of course he'd be blamed then too.

You missed my point.
Bamiecare hates the British.
There is such a pattern of disrespect towards the British, that it is very difficult to resist such a conclusion at this point.
