Obama-Proposed Gas Tax

Certainly not in public school... Lol

Read the question again, Rustic.....
Any businessman knows about U6, and that the politically correct progressives always use the U3 to cover for the federal government from both sides of the isle...

Read the question again, Rustic......

U3 has been the headline number for decades.......
Of course the real number has sucked for many, many decades. The federal government can not look bad, can they? They have to look like they are doing something, that being nothing for the people but something like busy work.
What comes to business the federal government is amateur hour

Let me know when you find yourself willing to answer the question.....
It seems to me you're deflecting, the number of people who dropped out of the work force(gave up) are never recorded in the U3. Every year for many, many decades of this number steadily increasing and somehow the so called "unemployment" rate never reflects this... Something stinks.
It's common in socialist country's, the deterioration of society...

Bad idea but they been trying to tax everything they can to pay their special interest projects and cronies.
What a pile of crap. Did you notice our infrastructure is falling apart under idiotic Reaganism? Your town could be Flint any day now, cars get thousands of dollars of damage from potholes, our airports and ports etc etc are a joke compared to other modern countries. Brainwashed functional morons...

If the deadbeat moochers got off their fat lard asses and worked you would have money for infrastructure.
Brainwashed blame the poor...The USA is the only modern country in the world where full time workers live in poverty and have no health care (750k bankruptcies a year, most HAVE insurance - crap insurance!)After 30 years of Voodoo: worst min. wage, work conditions, illegal work safeguards, vacations, work week, college costs, rich/poor gap, upward social mobility, % homeless and in prison EVAH, and in the modern world!! And you complain about the victims? Are you an idiot or an A-hole?:cuckoo:

You know, when someone comes off with calling these people victims, I have to think that you have never actually known any groups of people sucking off the system, or you are one yourself and fear losing your free ride.
Trust me, those that see it on a daily basis are getting tired of supporting these leaches.

No more taxes asshole. You thieves steal enough of my check.
The Dems ONLY want taxes on the bloated rich and giant corps, dupes.
not according to your boy bernie, he said that the middle class would see a 5000 a year tax increase, then there is your currenty boy bammy, he wants to raise the tax on fuel by another 22 cent, do only rich people drive or is there some slight chance that the middle class and poor have to put gas in their car too.

The Demise of the American Middle Class In Numbers.

Over the past 30 years the American dream has gradually disappeared. The process was slow, so most people didn’t notice. They just worked a few more hours, borrowed a little more and cut back on non-essentials. But looking at the numbers and comparing them over long time periods, it is obvious that things have changed drastically. Here are the details:

1. WORKERS PRODUCE MORE BUT THE GAINS GO TO BUSINESS.

Over the past 63 years worker productivity has grown by 2.0% per year.

But after 1980, workers received a smaller share every year. Labor’s share of income (1992 = 100%):

1950 = 101%
1960 = 105%
1970 = 105%
1980 = 105% – Reagan
1990 = 100%
2000 = 96%
2007 = 92%

A 13% drop since 1980

2. THE TOP 10% GET A LARGER SHARE.

Share of National Income going to Top 10%:

1950 = 35%
1960 = 34%
1970 = 34%
1980 = 34% – Reagan
1990 = 40%
2000 = 47%
2007 = 50%

An increase of 16% since Reagan.

3. WORKERS COMPENSATED FOR THE LOSS OF INCOME BY SPENDING THEIR SAVINGS.

The savings Rose up to Reagan and fell during and after.

1950 = 6.0%
1960 = 7.0%
1970 = 8.5%
1980 = 10.0% – Reagan
1982 = 11.2% – Peak
1990 = 7.0%
2000 = 2.0%
2006 = -1.1% (Negative = withdrawing from savings)

A 12.3% drop after Reagan.

4. WORKERS ALSO BORROWED TO MAKE UP FOR THE LOSS.

Household Debt as percentage of GDP:

1965 = 46%
1970 = 45%
1980 = 50% – Reagan
1990 = 61%
2000 = 69%
2007 = 95%

A 45% increase after 1980.

5. SO THE GAP BETWEEN THE RICHEST AND THE POOREST HAS GROWN.

Gap Between the Share of Capital Income earned by the top 1%
and the bottom 80%:

1980 = 10%
2003 = 56%

A 5.6 times increase.

6. AND THE AMERICAN DREAM IS GONE.

The Probably of Moving Up from the Bottom 40% to the Top 40%:

1945 = 12%
1958 = 6%
1990 = 3%
2000 = 2%

A 10% Decrease.

Do we need to talk about Obama’s $10-per-barrel oil tax proposal?

'Obama aides told POLITICO that when he releases his final budget request next week, the president will propose more than $300 billion worth of investments over the next decade in mass transit, high-speed rail, self-driving cars, and other transportation approaches designed to reduce carbon emissions and congestion. To pay for it all, Obama will call for a $10 “fee” on every barrel of oil, a surcharge that would be paid by oil companies but would presumably be passed along to consumers.

There is no real chance that the Republican-controlled Congress will embrace Obama’s grand vision of climate-friendly mobility in an election year—especially after passing a long-stalled bipartisan highway bill just last year—and his aides acknowledge it’s mostly an effort to jump-start a conversation about the future of transportation. But by raising the specter of new taxes on fossil fuels, it could create a political quandary for Democrats. The fee could add as much as 25 cents a gallon to the cost of gasoline, and even with petroleum prices at historic lows, the proposal could be particularly awkward for Hillary Clinton, who has embraced most of Obama’s policies but has also vowed to oppose any tax hikes on families earning less than $250,000 a year.'

LINK: Do we need to talk about Obama’s $10-per-barrel oil tax proposal?

I say no to the idea, and in another thread I pointed out that Texas drive pays thirty-eight cents a gallon just in taxes and he want it to go over sixty cents in taxes per gallon?

So right now I drive a truck that has a twenty-four gallon tank and let round up to forty cents a gallon for taxes and that is $9.60 in taxes for me per tank and now he want me to pay $14.40 in taxes per tank?

I also fill up twice a week because of my travel so that would be $28.80 per week in taxes and that is $1497.60 in taxes per year he want me to pay on top of other taxes?

No thank you...

Those roads you drive on......do they require any kind of maintenance?

That is not what he will spend the money on.

He is a moron for even proposing this, unless he wants to elect even more Republicans this fall!

Let the local municipalities decide how to fund local needs. There is no reason a farmer in Iowa should pay for major infrastructure in California.
And it's comical that you actually trust the government to spend the money effectively.

You may be stupid enough to think those taxes hit only them. Some people however are not so stupid to think those costs, assuming they don't just buy some more congressmen to adjust the tax code some more won't get passed on, with interest.

Taxes never go towards what career politicians say they are for....

As a matter of fact they do. I also currently pay a gas tax, and a license fee for each of my vehicles, which are supposed to go into road and bridge maintenance. Let's not forget the ever present tolls, now even found on the Interstates for the Lexus Lanes.

not in Maryland, there is no maintenance on roads in Maryland, I have an off road 4x4 and some of the roads around here are actually damaging to the truck. Destroyed a 500 dollar rim om my wifes car a couple months back when I drove through what can only be described as the grand canyon.

What's your definition of bloated rich? Or giant corp?
How high should we raise taxes on them?
I think the bloated rich is anyone that makes more than I do. My pay should be the cutoff for not paying taxes. If I make more, the cutoff moves. Just as long as Im not being asked to pay, everyone else is fair game.

Repairing them requires construction workers. Which have been going through broad across the board layoffs.

Oh well..
