Not only is Obama rolling out the red-carpet for illegals, is signing them up for Obamacare, going around Congress and giving them amnesty, he's now putting up safety beacons along the border to, according the the administration, to keep them from dying in the desert during their trip into the United States.

There are also plans on using helicopters to lift illegals out of danger and bring them into the U.S.

The beacons look similar to this......the actual photos, for some strange reason, cannot be cut and pasted.

PHOENIX (AP) -- Thorn-coated bushes, rock-covered terrain, scorching temperatures. A hissing rattlesnake.

These are just few of the many perils Mexican migrants crossing the Southern Arizona desert encounter every day. And far more of them will attempt to cross this summer, the U.S. Border Patrol predicts.

The agency unveiled its plans Wednesday for dealing with the problem of immigrants dying in the desert, including 10 new beacons that allow migrants to call for help at the push of a red button. The agency is also adding new hoisting systems on helicopters to rescue immigrants.

Officials from the Tucson sector on Wednesday gave reporters, government officials and immigration activists a demonstration of the latest tools they have to assist those who cross from Mexico into Arizona and get injured or dehydrated and cannot continue walking. The demonstration was held 20 miles north of the Sasabe port of entry to Mexico, southwest of Tucson, and included a nearly one-mile hike through rough terrain where migrants often cross.

The border patrol says it sees a steep increase in calls for help coming from its 22 beacons as the summer approaches.

"It's either they live or die. They make the call right away," agent Ricardo Cardiel said.

The beacons are 30-feet-tall and solar powered. They have sun reflectors and blue lights on top that are visible for 10 miles. The beacons have signs in three languages that direct users to push a red button that sends out a signal for help. Response times vary from 10 minutes to an hour depending on where the nearest agents are located.

Border Patrol to show off desert rescue beacons

PHOENIX (AP) -- U.S. Border Patrol officials plan to show off the agency's latest technology in rescue towers that are placed in remote desert regions across the Southwest.

The beacons are placed along routes commonly traveled by immigrants trying to cross into the U.S. illegally from Mexico. If they find themselves in a dangerous predicament, the person can press a button on the tower that alerts authorities of their location.

Border Patrol officials specially trained in rescue and medical operations then respond.

The agency plans a media event for Wednesday morning in the desert south of Tucson to highlight the dangers immigrants face when crossing rugged, remote terrain in sometimes triple-digit heat while also facing potential abuse or worse at the hands of smugglers.

This is all innocent of course, purely for humanitarian reasons I'm sure. Not because Democrats have opened up the borders and need a new flood of illegals to totally change the demographics of this country and assure that they'll control politics in this country for generations, destroying the economy as well. Nope, not happening.

Oh, this has always been going on (we just didn't know it until now)......

Wow...saving lives is usually a good thing. Guess it depends on the lives, eh?

Uh, they would save even more if they stopped welcoming them in here.......

Best way I know to save their lives is make the trip not worth the risk, don't you think?

Stop giving them free health care, giving them everything they can't get in Mexico, even the possibility of staying indefinitely.

I noticed that these illegal acts by the left always have a humanitarian angle to them to pull on people's heart-strings.

They don't get free healthcare here, stop lying. Are you aware that healthcare is actually in the Mexican Constitution? An illegal coming to America, isn't coming for the healthcare.

Illegal acts that involve humans trying to find a better lives for themselves has a humanitarian angle built in automatically.

STFU.

You and I both know health care is a major draw for illegals. Try going to a doctor's office in So.California today. Nobody speaks English anymore...

Health care in Mexico is provided via public institutions, private entities, or private physicians. Health care delivered through private health care organizations operates entirely on the free-market system, i.e., it is available to those who can afford it.

So when they show up at one of our fine hospital emergency rooms and they cannot pay, they are turned away ?

Health care in Mexico - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

It's a two tier system. Public and private. From YOUR link:

Public Health care delivery is accomplished via an elaborate provisioning and delivery system instituted by the Mexican Federal Government. Public health care is provided to all Mexican citizens as guaranteed via Article 4 of the Constitution. Public care is either fully or partially subsidized by the federal government, depending on the person's (Spanish: derechohabiente's) employment status. All Mexican citizens are eligible for subsidized health care regardless of their work status via a system of health care facilities operating under the federal Secretariat of Health (formerly the Secretaria de Salubridad y Asistencia, or SSA) agency.

No, jobs and work are a major draw for non citizens, not our Emergency rooms.

It's ODS rearing it's head once again.

The beacons will end up just like the water stations. They will be destroyed as soon as they are put up.

If it was those God awful Mormons you'd be happy if they were getting snuffed....

Oh, this has always been going on (we just didn't know it until now)......

Actually, this was started while Bush was prez and a Lutheran church in Tucson did it too - BEFORE Obama was president.

But go ahead and pretend that Obama had something to do with it.

While we're at it, another Bush era rescue that McCain did was putting lookouts on tall towers. The Border Patrol agents were to sit up there scanning the desert for people. It didn't work because the desert flora is so thick you could hide a herd of elephants out there and the agents were suffering from sitting up there, unprotected from the sun.

You would have a point if Bush ran the government by himself.....

BTW, since the link states clearly that this is being announced by the Obama administration, not the Bush administration, I don't know how this can be swept under the rug anymore.....

Healthcare here is not free. The ER treatment that hospitals must provide regardless of ability to pay was signed into law by Ronald Reagan called the EMTALA. If you go to Mexico & need help or healthcare, it is free.
