Obama must really hate that information is no longer controlled by the Big Three Networks and a handful of major metro newspapers.
Obama, who often chides journalists and cable news outlets for obsessing with political horse race coverage rather than serious issues, told a class of graduating university students that education was the key to progress.
"You're coming of age in a 24/7 media environment that bombards us with all kinds of content and exposes us to all kinds of arguments, some of which don't always rank all that high on the truth meter," Obama said at Hampton University, Virginia.
"With iPods and iPads and Xboxes and PlayStations, -- none of which I know how to work -- information becomes a distraction, a diversion, a form of entertainment, rather than a tool of empowerment, rather than the means of emancipation," Obama said.
He bemoaned the fact that "some of the craziest claims can quickly claim traction," in the clamor of certain blogs and talk radio outlets.
"All of this is not only putting new pressures on you, it is putting new pressures on our country and on our democracy."[/i]

Does anyone else find it troubling that Obama continues to attack the alternative media which is critical of him?
Bloggers typically aren't journalists - they publish opinion - not news. Do you even know the difference?
Nope, to them, news is whatever is fed to them that they already believe and want to hear.
Obama was dead on, we a living in the age of misinformation, and many people are dumb enough and not honest as it is, so they think a blog=fact. THey think editorial= fact. So pathetic
Is that really what you heard? Or is your misinformed brain so programmed to believe bullshit that you actually buy his? It really doesn't surprise me.
For the record, the title of the OP is off by a long shot. He wasn't scolding these grads. He was asking them...no, he was practically BEGGING them... to not pay attention to what he calls questionable information...I.E. anything that puts him in a negative light. It's a classic case of a control freak. If it's negative, it's a lie. If it's from anyone other than Robert Gibbs, it's in question.
Don't be so glib...you and I both know that he was aiming that bullshit right between the eyes of any tv commentator, radio talking head, journalist, reporter, blogger, message board member, or plumber that would dare to say anything negative about him, his performance or his administration. He can't control what they say...(yet)...so he attempts to control who listens to it by lodging the ever powerful question of doubt into their young and impressionable minds. He may have succeeded with some of them too. At least by the looks of some of their faces, he had a few of them in his grasp.
