Why should we support the Islamist rebels in Syria.....? What makes them the solution....?

The real problem is Assad and his use of chemical weapons......supposedly....

So why not just knock off Assad and replace him with another Alawite leader.....?

The Alawites are much more 'moderate' than any of the rebel Islamists....

Why does Obama favor the rebel Islamists....?

My take on it is that things are going quickly enough for the investors and they need more punch to proceed with deposing Assad. Now that this gas line has been crossed enough times, they finally have Obama's attention.
