You seem confused. The UK has much fewer guns than us and their homicide rate is 1/4 of ours. Their police are also rarely shot and killed. Many countries with far fewer guns have much lower homicide rates. Your claim has no backing. This is about helping our law enforcement. Some of us actually care. But many are killed by firearms, something that is very rare when there is strong gun control. It really doesn't matter. It's too easy to kill a cop when you have a gun regardless.
Having a gun doesn't necessarily mean you're going to kill anyone. The majority of law-enforcement officers are killed by accidents, not firearms. There are federal, state, and local laws which were enacted to prevent criminals from accessing firearms. Are you saying that laws are ineffective? If so, how would passing redundant laws be effective?
Yes our gun laws are extremely weak. Even angry children can get guns for murder.
Ok then, so fess up: This thread wasn't really about respecting a fallen officer, it was about your own hoplophobic irrational fear of weapons, right?
Why didn't you just say that to start with?
How is wanting to disarm citizens "helping" law-enforcement? You mean you actually want to increase the burden on them and their workload?
You do know that in a society full of unarmed and helpless citizens, armed criminals will pretty much do what they want to, right?
