One Thing I’ve Noticed About the Pandemic...

Those that had good coping skills have coped. Those that were generally maladjusted and angry have gotten more and more angry. Those who were given to whacky conspiracy theories have gone full tilt conspiratards.

Such is to be expected as challenges break some and make others.

Pretty profound isn’t she? I read that and I thought, there was no thought put into that statement.

People who own businesses that have been crushed are having a lot harder time coping than those who have just been collecting checks.
Businesses fail every day. Its not the end of the world. New businesses will take their place.

Sure, but not thousands and thousands of businesses all failing at the same time. This is a massive shakeup all occurring at one time. And a lot of businesspeople were caught unaware as it came down so quickly.

I guess it has been inevitable that Amazon and to a lesser extent Walmart would absorb these sales eventually. But its a kick in the ass to see thousands of people's livelihoods going down the tube simultaneously.

We suffered together, we can recover together. That's just good old American brotherhood.

Actually, some people have suffered a lot, and other haven't suffered at all. Au contraire, a lot of politicians have really enjoyed the whole event. Establishing curfews, all kinds of new rules about masks, social distancing, closing businesses, sending people checks. Nowadays a lot of the governors are walking around like they are Kim Jong Fucking Un and are really into it.
.....as a member previously said, the politicians haven't lost their jobs or paycheck
MOFO the politicians ---they should have furloughed MANY government workers LONG ago--we were in HUGE debt even back then
...they should ''furlough'' some of these jackass politicians who contribute NOTHING
In Maine, City Hall employees and a lot of state university workers have been laid off. DMV workers have been furloughed since the start, since the DMV was shut down at the get go. The government is not getting its revenues either and next year is going to be hell. There is going to be a huge contraction in the economy and I fear the government's ability to respond is not going to be there. This is shaping up to be JUST like the start of the Great Depression--when if you starved or lost your home, tough shit.

Government just makes money, deficits won’t matter and we will borrow trillions more before this is all over.

It certainly does. But I don't see the point of piling on those who it does happen to. I can understand why people are concerned, because I have a scintilla of empathy for my fellow man.

I was thinking more about the states.

So what? Owning is business is hard work. Pandemics make it even harder. You sound like a whiny, entitled person.

One thing that I hear regularly that drives me up the fucking wall is, "We're all in this together!"

Then you watch way too much fucking TeeVee. Here's a hint: TeeVee and reality are different things. Quite a revelation, amirite?

I personally am ignoring every rule that will not get me shot. I go out every day, several times, to walk, ride my bike, ride my motorcycle, practice golf, and generally enjoy my limited freedom. I'm eating "out" at least once a day, usually fast food at the drive-thru.

So what? Are you looking for a cookie or something? Perhaps there's a store open.

Tell us a little about yourself, candycorn.

Lets start with a couple of simple questions...
Has your income stopped because of this virus?
Do you have people depending on you for their income?
No. Essential employee.

As for #2...not sure what you mean.

Can we assume you're nothing more than a tard looking for attention?

You’re the one posting on my thread.

I just want another stimulus check.

I just want the first one.
I won't get any because I have always lived responsibility and made too much money to get any handouts at all. And what I got, I got the old fashioned way, I earned it. Nothing was ever given to me unless I busted my hump for it and did without unless I could afford to buy it for myself. For me this way of life began at about age 11 or 12. Today I'm in my mid 70s and I've never known any other way. Quite frankly I wouldn't want it or have it any other way.

Our DMV just opened back up last week. Just in time too, I had a car about to expire and if I did it online they were gonna charge me a $4 "convenience" fee. Ta hell wit dat.
