They certainly have unwavering support from the far right in the US. Just about anything can be justified if it is done to protect the second amendment or to stop the evil Federal Government.

If not a right winger, how would you classify him? And the others pointed out in the article you choose not to read, such as:

So now Republicans are against drones because Obama uses them? You weren't against drone strikes on civilians for any moral reasons during Bush's term. The right-wing Conservative Republican GOPbagger base was all for it, saying that drones kept our soldiers out of harm's way and other bullshit to justify an easier method of exterminating anyone who might oppose the US invading their countries over lies. So why the change of heart since Obama took over?
