The Washington Spirit made the decision to prevent anyone from using the National Anthem as an opportunity to protest and drawing attention to themselves in doing so by playing the National Anthem while the teams were still in the locker room!

Opposing Team Prevents Soccer Star From Kneeling Again During National Anthem – See How She Reacts

"The Washington Spirit prevented Seattle midfielder Megan Rapinoe from kneeling again during the national anthem by altering its pregame ceremonies rather than “subject our fans and friends to the disrespect we feel such an act would represent.”

The National Women’s Soccer League team moved up the anthem, playing it while the teams were off the field at the Maryland SoccerPlex."

“To willingly allow anyone to hijack this tradition that means so much to millions of Americans and so many of our own fans for any cause would effectively be just as disrespectful as doing it ourselves,” the Spirit said in the statement.

And what was the attention-desiring, nation-hating liberal's response?

"Rapinoe said she was saddened by the Spirit’s move, calling it “f***ing unbelievable. I think it was incredibly distasteful to say that I, four days before one of the worst tragedies we’ve had in our country … hijacked this event,” she added."

What's 'f*ing unbelievable' and 'distasteful' to me is the fact that she is pissed that - as she points out - 4 days before 'one of the worst tragedies we've had in our country' she is DENIED the opportunity to publicly disrespect the national anthem and this country.

With all due respect, Ms. Rapinoe...

Yes, you must do as we tell you to do, all for the "good of the country", you're not individuals you know.

"Okay then, let's take guns out of society for the good of the country"

We're all individuals and we MUST have our rights.....

No one prevented her from taking a knee in the locker room.

No one prevented her from coming out onto the field and taking a knee then going back into the locker room.

No one stripped her of her RIGHTS. They took away the OPPORTUNITY to publicly draw attention to herself and to hijack this public tradition of playing the National Anthem in HONOR of this nation and the heroes who fought / fight / have died to keep this nation free.

The point I was making was they were trying to draw attention away, and they created attention, while also being hypocritical.

Kneeling down doesn't "hijack" anything

you approve of state censorship of political dissent?
No one censored her. That false accusation infers someone stripped her of her right, which no one did. She had every right to come out onto the field and take a knee. No one stopped her. That's like saying someone who showed up after a limited-time-offer sale was discriminated against because they weren't there / showed up late.

They had them do it in the locker room in order to silence any criticism against the state

Which is a mere symbol, and part of that symbol, ironically, is the freedom of speech (and specifically in the Constitution for political speech. So, the OP is happy that she couldn't hijack the anthem which specially allows hijacking. So the OP is happy that the anthem was hijacked by someone not being able to hijack it.

:crybaby:Awww....a poor America-hating Lib missed the opportunity to protest her country - as she pointed out - 4 days before one of the biggest tragedies to happen in the US.

Last time I checked the Constitution protected her right to protest but does not force others to provide her with the opportunity to protest.
