Opposing Team Prevents Soccer Star From Kneeling Again During National Anthem

Next time they're going to play it really low to stop people from protesting it. Or they can play parts of it like musical chairs...that'll teach em

When someone wants to take a personal stand and others call for 'unity', what they are really calling for is 'silence'.

I got that. I do not advocate anyone's rights being taken away. I have spent a lifetime fighting for those rights, even of those whose message I do not agree with.

'Kids' like CK, however, are uneducated - by design. They have no clue what the National Anthem is truly about, about the fight to create this nation, the blood, sacrifice, service, and a nation's striving to BE great - not a claim that it IS great. To many patriots and those who served / serve the national anthem is about a belief in this country, a continuous striving to BE great but also a reminder of all those who gave their lives and who fight to give people like CK to do something to help make this nation better, not just protest and point to the things they see wrong with this nation. I have buddies who have died, who have had kids die, to keep this nation free, to protect everyone's rights, and to give them the opportunity to work to make things better!

You protest an Anthem that represents ALL Americans...except not all Americans or all of this country is racist, sexist, blah, blah, blah is it. So while you're spitting on the Anthem you are spitting on a lot of good people to include those who have given their lives for this country.

Great - you protest - you drew attention to yourself - you don't like something. WHAT, however, are you DOING to correct the wrong and to make it better than just protesting your nation while drawing attention to yourself?!

Part of the problem, as I see it, the seeds of division, hatred, and discontent have been sewn in this country, to keep people down and divided. Many Americans have thus been conditioned to focus on all that is wrong with this country rather than see or look for what is right with this country.

IMHO

The Washington Spirit made the decision to prevent anyone from using the National Anthem as an opportunity to protest and drawing attention to themselves in doing so by playing the National Anthem while the teams were still in the locker room!

Opposing Team Prevents Soccer Star From Kneeling Again During National Anthem – See How She Reacts

"The Washington Spirit prevented Seattle midfielder Megan Rapinoe from kneeling again during the national anthem by altering its pregame ceremonies rather than “subject our fans and friends to the disrespect we feel such an act would represent.”

The National Women’s Soccer League team moved up the anthem, playing it while the teams were off the field at the Maryland SoccerPlex."

“To willingly allow anyone to hijack this tradition that means so much to millions of Americans and so many of our own fans for any cause would effectively be just as disrespectful as doing it ourselves,” the Spirit said in the statement.

And what was the attention-desiring, nation-hating liberal's response?

"Rapinoe said she was saddened by the Spirit’s move, calling it “f***ing unbelievable. I think it was incredibly distasteful to say that I, four days before one of the worst tragedies we’ve had in our country … hijacked this event,” she added."

What's 'f*ing unbelievable' and 'distasteful' to me is the fact that she is pissed that - as she points out - 4 days before 'one of the worst tragedies we've had in our country' she is DENIED the opportunity to publicly disrespect the national anthem and this country.

With all due respect, Ms. Rapinoe...
:fu:

Yes, you must do as we tell you to do, all for the "good of the country", you're not individuals you know.

"Okay then, let's take guns out of society for the good of the country"

We're all individuals and we MUST have our rights.....

Did any police officer come in and tell her she couldn't kneel? The answer is zero so what is your complaint? Did you just make this up?

You guys need your own national anthem that really expresses how you feel about his country. You can sing it all you want and anywhere you want.

no we dont

You know you want to sing a real song that shows how you really feel about this country. At least I wouldn't have to put up with the people who barely stand at the national anthem and show the fakest enthusiasm ever.

No one prevented her from taking a knee in the locker room.

No one prevented her from coming out onto the field and taking a knee then going back into the locker room.

No one stripped her of her RIGHTS. They took away the OPPORTUNITY to publicly draw attention to herself and to hijack this public tradition of playing the National Anthem in HONOR of this nation and the heroes who fought / fight / have died to keep this nation free.
Then whats OP so happy about?
That she was not able to hijack the National Anthem.

Which is a mere symbol, and part of that symbol, ironically, is the freedom of speech (and specifically in the Constitution for political speech. So, the OP is happy that she couldn't hijack the anthem which specially allows hijacking. So the OP is happy that the anthem was hijacked by someone not being able to hijack it.

As you regressives have pointed out so many times, there is no right to free speech in the work place. Is the soccer stadium not her work place? If her team chose to, they could fire her ass for disparaging the image of the team.

:crybaby:Awww....a poor America-hating Lib missed the opportunity to protest her country - as she pointed out - 4 days before one of the biggest tragedies to happen in the US.

Last time I checked the Constitution protected her right to protest but does not force others to provide her with the opportunity to protest.

"American-hating"? So, if you criticize any part of America you hate it? So if you criticize poverty, or black people committing more crimes, you hate America?

Or are you just attacking in order to try and "win" somehow?

Protesting is a part of what makes America America. Without protest being legal then what is the USA?

You seem to be the one who is anti-American by hating protesting.

So if something is legal, you shouldn't complain about it?

I'll remember that when people complain about gay people marrying and being seen kissing and the like....
