Detroit was "aided" by the fact that every industrial competitor to the U.S. was bombed back to the 1880s.

It did prosper for a while.

I recall an anecdote from my youth. My neighborhood was blue-collar Italians, Irish, and Jews. All the groups go along fine. One day a blue-collar Black family moved in and within a few years the whole neighborhood was Black. Funny thing.
