This is not a "get out of jail" free card because they did it to. If Podesta did something illegal, gets caught and get's convicted, then he will be punished. No one should be above the law. Not even Trump and the GOP.

If Podesta is likely to have broken the law, then it's the responsibility of the Trump justice department to investigate and prosecute him.

Trying to find someone who committed a similar crime and maybe got away with it is NO defense whatsoever.

Podesta could be found guilty of murdering Americans at the direct request of Putin and it wouldn't take Trump one millimeter off the hook.
