What is important to know is WHY were so few Capitol officers there that day.
Why was the Capital Chiefs request for NG hours before violence began denied by senior officials (who are under direct supervision of congress)
Why was weeks of warnings by other law enforcement telling Capitol police, not only ignored, but AGAIN - there were FEWER officers on duty that day than usual.
IT is critical for everyome to know that Capitol Police have 2,300 officers.... who were no where to be seen. They are under the direct command of Congress. So why were so few there, and why was all information something was going to happen ignored???

But yes...there are SERIOUS questions that need to be answered about this security debacle...INCLUDING whether or not GOP Congressmen aided and abetted this attack on democracy

Uh yes they are.
The Senior Capitol Supervisors answer to two oversight committees. One in Congress, and one in the Senate. Top brass are appointed by these committees. You are right that no single Congress/Senate member can direct to them what to do, but the committees can and do. And I suspect the committee chair has a lot of pull. I have had a hard time finding out who that is. The media doesn't seem to be interested.
Which tells me, they are protecting that person(s).
Like the ICE Director, who worked for the Capitol police formerly - said "this is impossible". He stated while watching on TV he was in disbelief and constantly asked himself - where are the Capital police??
There are 2,300 of them. Where were they?? Who is responsible for manning them?
Why was the Capitol Police Chief's request for the Nat Guard intercepted by supervisors and denied?? These Supervisors are appointed by Congress.
I absolutely believe someone(s) on those committees were a part of the unbelievable decision to understaff that day, denied the request for NG.

The Capitol Police are under the supervision of Congress.
As the ICE DIrector stated - why were more officers off duty than usual, let alone when Congress was in session with 10,000's of people outside.
Unheard of. That wasn't an accident.
The Chief was fired - he is a SCAPE GOAT. He requested the Nat Guard hours before violence - but was denied by top brass. Why is he fired???
