Poor working people can face a higher tax rate than the 1 percenters

Some people hate economic growth for the working poor and middle class, despite the fact the it seriously hurts the United States consumer driven economy.
Paying those at the bottom more creates a ripple effect that benefits the working class.
Here's any interesting read that not too many of those who think thinks are just peachy for the working class will bother to read..

Increasing the minimum wage appears to benefit the Federal government more than the poor worker.
Utter nonsense. If I offer you an extra $2 an hour but I take back even as much as a buck of that in taxes you are still $1 ahead of where you were. Learn to do math and think for the love of god.

You're not taking into account the other things they will lose. They are likely to be paying more for things. That $1 they have left after taxes won't go far to cover other losses.

Point is that the government is doing this for themselves. Most of the liberal policies/laws are nothing more than ways to transfer money and power from the people to themselves.

This might force more people into Obamacare, which is not a good thing. If these folks end up paying higher premiums for health insurance, they will be worse off than before. But the government will have more money and more people under their thumb by signing up for Obamacare.

Poor workers may face an effective higher tax rate than the 1 percenters on their Minimum Wage increases that Obama and the Dims want.....meaning the Government could end up with getting back more than HALF of a poor person's increased minimum wage...nice huh..?

here is an example of a single mother with one child who is making minimum wage...

$2.85/hr....the proposed government increase
-0.24.........loss in EITC (Earned Income Tax Credit)
-0.91.........loss in SNAP benefits (food stamps)
-0.06.........loss in LHEAP benefits (heating help)
-0.22.........higher payroll taxes
_____
$1.42/hr....Single working mom's share
$1.43/hr....Federal government's share.....over 50% of her wage increase taken back....:eusa_shhh:

this does NOT include any increased State income taxes...
OR losing other state or local benefits...
OR the possibility she may lose her Medicaid due to higher income and have to buy Obamacare which means she could possibly be made even poorer than before...:cuckoo:

Increasing the minimum wage appears to benefit the Federal government more than the poor worker...is that the real reason why Obama and the Dems are pushing it....?

The minimum wage is an incredibly inefficient way to help the poor because many of the gains go to households that are not in or even near poverty and because the increases in labor costs lead to price increases that must be paid by customers who are often the same low-wage workers supposedly being helped. Still, President Obama has backed that option rather than the seemingly superior policy of increasing the Earned Income Tax Credit.

Obama's Wage 'Compassion' Means Poor Face A Higher Effective Tax Rate Than 1 Percenters - Forbes

Nonsense.

Wage earners are already paying a higher percentage of taxes than those who live off of dividend income. It was this blatant unfairness that the GOP loves and the DNC loathes that installed Obama for a second term (in part).

that is not what is being claimed.....however if she has to go buy Obamacare instead of getting free Medicaid it could eat up every extra dollar she got plus some...
That is the risk of making both too little and too much. It happens.

First they tell us there are too many on welfare. Now all of a sudden they support it. :cuckoo:

I heard someone use the term "placism" before--that someone may not a be a racist but they may be a "placist" insofar as keeping a particular type of person down. Those in the GOP seem to be exercising this.

Exactly. While they whine on about the destruction of middle class, they support this move that will take another hit at the middle class. Just who do they think middle class people are? They are the small business owners who are already struggling and they will have no choice but to lay people off if this passes.

I know middle aged guy making minimum wage or close to it. He works 40 hours a week and gets food stamps. He is probably better off that way is if his pay goes up he may make too much to get gov't assistance. At least I know he gets help to afford his food.

No, you are not ahead because that raise you got would be equalized by price increases, and you are right back where you started from. The poor that do not get the raise lose, because they also have to pay the higher prices. There is no free lunch, and there never, ever, will be one.

The minimum wage is nothing more than government attempting to shift welfare costs to private employers. And, like most government attempts to skew the economy, it creates more pain for the poorest citizens.

He's one lousy socialist. Ask them, they don't like him either.

the Dem commies are quite happy with his minimum wage proposal......after all it will take money right from the hated middle class and direct it right back to central control....the Feds....

btw i call statists of any description 'commies'....
The only people who hate the Middle Class are you guys. Anything that helps it out you are more than happy to kill at your master's request.

The middle class are not affected by the minimum wage, except for the fact that some of them will have to pay it. The best way government can help the middle class is to get the hell out of their way and let them thrive.

Who do you think pays for the majority of these stupid government programs? It sure isn't the 1%ers or the poor.

Thousands of us will spend the rest of our lives just paying off for one stupid ass solar panel disaster. Thousands more are trying to pay off that $10 billion we lost on the GM deal. You dumbasses are killing the middle class.

The ripple effect only works when the consumer spending works its way down to manufacturing of durable products. Consequently, China and India benefit from increased consumer spending on those items, much more than the United States does. Second, consumer spending at the poverty level is almost entirely spent on food and shelter, and does little to benefit any other sector of the economy.

The middle class is being destroyed by government programs, government taxation, and government regulations. Just too much red tape and start up costs, to get around. And, God help you if you missed some obscure regulation. The penalties can be enormous, and wipe out your entire investment. Many people have learned that the hard way.

Yeah, but then he has to pay higher taxes, so can still not afford food on his own.

22 Statistics That Prove The Middle Class Is Being Systematically Wiped Out Of Existence In America - Business Insider

it's no secret that Obama and the radical Dems are intent on wiping out the middle class...

of course the big reason we have lost so many jobs is because of our trade deficit....so what is Obama doing about it....?
he's secretly working on the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) also called a NAFTA on steroids....which will send even MORE of our manufacturing jobs overseas....we could lose millions more jobs and permanently kiss our middle class goodbye....

If we could start reducing the size of our trade deficit, that would go a long way toward getting the United States back on the right economic path.

Unfortunately, Barack Obama has been negotiating a treaty in secret which is going to send the deindustrialization of America into overdrive. The Trans-Pacific Partnership is being called the "NAFTA of the Pacific", and it is going to result in millions more good jobs being sent to the other side of the planet where it is legal to pay slave labor wages.

According to Professor Alan Blinder of Princeton University, 40 million more U.S. jobs could be sent offshore over the next two decades if current trends continue.

So what will this country look like when we lose tens of millions more jobs than we already have?

U.S. workers are being merged into a giant global labor pool where they must compete directly for jobs with people making less than a dollar an hour with no benefits.

Obama tells us that globalization is good for us and that Americans need to be ready to adjust to a "level playing field".

Shocking Facts About The Deindustrialization Of America That Everyone Should Know

Obama's Covert Trade Deal

WASHINGTON — THE Obama administration has often stated its commitment to open government. So why is it keeping such tight wraps on the contents of the Trans-Pacific Partnership, the most significant international commercial agreement since the creation of the World Trade Organization in 1995?
...
Whatever one thinks about “free trade,” the secrecy of the Trans-Pacific Partnership process represents a huge assault on the principles and practice of democratic governance. That is untenable in the age of transparency, especially coming from an administration that is otherwise so quick to trumpet its commitment to open government.

The real problem with increasing the minimum wage is the already devalued dollar. Liberals don't know where money comes from they think it literally falls out of the sky. They haven't the intellectual or logical capacity to understand what it will do to the economy, the poor, the rich, and everyone in between.
There are always trade-offs in economics. Learn it.

It isn't a "trade off" nit wit. Where do you think the money to pay those higher salaries will come from? You think that the 1% pays their employees right out of their personal bank accounts?

What about the people who don't make minimum wage now but also don't make what it will be changed to? You think they are going to settle for a salary equal to what a burger flipper makes? What about the union contracts that are tied to the minimum wage? Where is all this money going to come from eh?

Trade Offs? What a dumbass.

Ignore him. He posts the same nonsense in every thread.

That income from dividends is taxed less than income from labor. Income should be taxed all the same if taxed at all. This is a rule in the tax code that only benefits those who invest and receive ordinary dividends who are usually the very wealthy.

the unfairness of how little the poor woman is helped because half or more of her increase in income is taken from her...?
So what you're saying is that she is bringing home more money...and she would be injured by this how exactly?

the unfairness of how the middle class employer is forced to pay everybody more money.....?
Everybody? Really? Likely not. Anyway, the "middle class employer's" competition is also having to pay "everybody" more too so there is no real disadvantage.

the unfairness of how many workers will be laid off because of the employer can't affored the forced wage increases.....?
Fantasy.

You guys always say this and it has never been the case. The minimum wage has been raised since it's inception and unemployment has pretty much stayed the same.

Retail is the largest segment of minimum wage workers; do you see a shortage of Wal*Marts, Targets, K-Marts, Sears, Dillards, JC Pennys, Safeways, Krogers, Home Depot, Lowes, etc....? Retail has exploded.

You're so full of shit your eyes are probably brown.

There is no free lunch, that is certainly true, but the minimum wage is there to keep capitalism from doing what it would normally do, have no wage that was too low.
