Pop up clinics fill void in care

Doctors, like other professionals, are affected by the market they practice in.

A Park Avenue plastic surgeon can - and needs to - ask a lot more than a family practice physician in Oshkosh.

Y'all seem to understand that when it comes to housing prices, but not to incomes. Why is that?

They do have to go through a process which results in them making 100K less than the average US Physician.
I have been told by most of them, who kids are becoming anything BUT MDs, that the age of the American MD is coming to a close.
Most of the kids I know are becoming Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, OTs and PTs with a few scattered Dentists.
They say it simply isn't worth the time and expense.

It sounds as if the market is weeding things out.

I don't like the idea of foreign doctors...while at the same time, my friends in the medical field question the committment of Americans to becoming doctors (a lot of drop outs...."it's to hard and to time consuming").

Being an Orthodox Jew means 18 years of 10 hour days plus homework before going to Medical School so the "too hard and too time consuming" thing never comes up.

So, it seems we should have Jewish doctors all over the place.

Why don't we ?

I have already explained why but I'll repeat...
I know many in their 40s and 50s who have already be laid off and many college graduates, including my daughter who is going for PT, could not afford to go to Medical School based upon current economic trends.
You can't invest so much money for a dwindling return on income.

You've really never made the connection.

I've posted the average salary for doctors and it does not jive with your claims about people making 350K.

I've not seen the economic analysis, so why don't you provide it.

Invest X and get a revenue (income stream of Y)...what is the return.

What I said was that my friends who are not-laid-off doctors question the committment of American kids to medical school.

And maybe it's time we figure out why medical school is so freaking expensive.

The average MD in NYS made 350K/year; no longer.
I don't have to rely on publications because I know these MDs personally.
It's like quoting a publication that quotes that computer programmers make 90K/year when there are virtually no non-Indian programmers at all.

Because that would show the flaw in maintaining Eternal Supply Side Economics.
No Economic Policy should be what is called Evergreen (Forever).

It would be nice not to have to read between the lines.

What part of Free-Market Economics don't you like ?

Just guessing, but I suspect it's the "Free" part.

Yes, so you know a local restricted segment of the market.

I know MD's too. They don't claim to make that much money. And none of them have been displaced by Indians.

They see indians filling gaps in good jobs that americans would get if they would just survive medical school.

A friend of mine has a daughter who just took a job in dermitologist's office. She's make more money to start than she ever thought she would.

To be sure, Supply side economics as Reagan practiced it didn't create free markets.

It would just be nice to know what specifically is at issue here.

The situation he claims is not one I hear about on a national level.

Have you ?

Thankfully not yet.
Cruz and Rubio are for it.
In the meanwhile, the slow chipping away of even Physicians is taking place.

If the market won't support physicians making 350 K a year.....I can't say I am sad.
