Question for those pushing a "living wage"

You make an interesting point

But as a follow up. If your employee doesn't earn enough to support himself, should the taxpayer make up the difference?

Should an employer have the taxpayers support his employees just so that he can profit off of substandard wages?

If you're working you should not get taxpayer subsidies.

I agree......you should make enough to support yourself

Yes you should, but that is up to you decide and aspire to, not the employer or the government.
Nice to know that you realize "yourself' is the answer and not "your family".

People are paid what they are worth. It's their responsibility to make a living wage by educating themselves. If they don't like what an employer pays them get a better job.

Fast food is hardly a career.

Employees make all of the revenue for a company. How much should that be worth?

Depends upon the value they add.

The person that asks "Do you want fries with that" isn't as valuable as the person that writes the software running the cash register.

Then how is someone meant to survive on a casual wage?

Except no one asks whether you want fries with that.

They shouldn't EXPECT IT...but then WHY did they take the JOB? They ENTERED into a Contract...LEGAL. They HAVE the option to QUIT for something BETTER, now don't they?

Yer doing it wrong.

Except there is not enough full time, decent paying jobs to go around, is there?

Second time your emotional response failed to address the point.

AND...Ding...DING...why is that? Could it BE POLICY from this administration that IS destroying the Private sector on purpose? The BIG BOOT of Government Regulation/TAXATION that is causing it?

*NAH*...couldn't be...:eusa_whistle:

So, you are against against a mandated pay raise for millions of fellow Americans. Not only that but you 'd be in favor of vacating the current minimum wage law , allowing wages to spiral infinitely downward. Yet you are a friend of labor and supportive of labor, and would not deny them a raise if offered it by their employer.

With friends like you, who needs enemies?

So if I can do a job for 5 dollars an hour and that pay would meet my needs, I shouldn't have the ability to negotiate with the employer to get the job?

That pay would not meet your needs. Nor would any but a desperate man enter into that agreement .

Really, I didn't say it would be my only source of income, I might just be looking for some additional mad money, for my hobbies as an example. You see not everyone is the same so your cookie cutter approach doesn't always apply, that's what limiting freedom gets you, a fucked up system.

Can YOU say OBAMACARE? Uncertainty in the private sector? People aren't hiring/expanding because the Democrats/Obama WANT people feeding off the TAXPAYERS? SOMETIME if this keeps up there won't be any taxpayers left. THIS is NOT sustainable, and flies in the face of Liberty.

The so-called CHERISHED "Middle Class" are being destroyed by the very same that CLAIM to care about it.

But please? Plod on shall you?
