There's a balance ... yes, natural gas produces carbon dioxide ... however, natural gas produces more energy per ton of carbon emissions ... unfortunately, human nature being as it is, we are just using more energy for the same emissions ... same problem with wind/solar, we just use more energy, so this doesn't help the planet ...
On the other hand ... well over a billion of us still cook all our meals over an open fire ... so many of us living without electric service and the basic refrigeration so many of us "richer" folk depend on for our daily food supply ... go ahead an unplug your 'frig for a couple weeks, see how quickly your Pocket Pizzas spoil ... see what a pain in the ass it is to go out and milk your goat morning and evening just so your kids can have safe milk to drink ...
Now ... don't get me wrong ... the problems in these desperately poor regions of the world are many and varied ... and they have to solve their own problems, in their own way ... rich nations can help some, but more importantly we shouldn't be interfering with their progress ...
For all the 6-year-old little girls in the world who have to gather firewood sunrise to sunset ... it's truly hateful to even suggest curtailing carbon dioxide emissions ... let the family burn coal or diesel fuel for electricity ... let all these children attend school and grow up to live a better life ... buying American-made consumer goods ...
