Ready for Boots on the Ground in Iraq?

The pinch is coming for the dipstick Obama. Now that he is committed to bombing tumbleweeds and desert oasis, guess what?

What, no empty pharmacies to send T-Hawks into?

Its not working

So, the decision will have to be made at some point.

Cut and run like he did last time? Leave it to turn into a crap hole like it is today? Just another Obama Syria screw-up?

Or will he put boots on the ground to do the job?

I say he'll leave them to die and go golf

John McCain Criticizes Iraq Air Strikes As 'Ineffective'

WASHINGTON, Aug 10 (Reuters) - The United States conducted a new round of air strikes on Sunday against Islamic State militants in Iraq while congressional Republicans slammed President Barack Obama's intervention as ineffective and called for more aggressive military steps.

Republican Representative Peter King of New York criticized Obama for insisting he will not send U.S. ground troops to combat Islamic State forces in Iraq, adding that the United States has been too timid in the crisis so far.

"We should take nothing off the table. We (should) start off with massive air attacks," King, a member of the House of Representatives Homeland Security Committee, told NBC'S "Meet the Press" program.

"I think doing them from aircraft carriers is limiting them. We should use bases in the area so we can have much more sustained air attacks. We should be aggressively arming the Kurds," King added.

Mass graves - transitory. Military coups - noise. ISIS direct calls for American blood - no problem. Siding with another unelected leader without being sure - new normal foreign policy. Arming kurd fighters - sure why not. Saving a few 100 Yazidi in the name of humanitarianism (oh and the oil sshh) - priceless. We hope President Obama has had a restful morning on his vacation at Martha's Vineyard as he speaks on the latest political developments in Iraq (which last week he explained were crucial if the army was ever to fight for the 'nation' ever again). Just a reminder, the call is 'audio only' - listen hard for the calls of 'fore' in the background.

besides the 800 already there now another 130

are headed that way

I would have been doing cyber cartwheels in my living room cheering him on.

But having followed this "Arab Spring" fairy tale since it began I knew Obama wouldn't do jack shit about ISIS and Levant.

Why? Because Obama and other western leaders have been so focused on attempting to remove Assad from power at any cost they willingly turned a blind eye to the terror groups in Syria.

Now we have a big "whoopsies" to deal with because of their short sightedness. The morons we have as leaders didn't anticipate "what could possibly go wrong".

And here we are with a massive humanitarian disaster on our hands.

Here's the wonderful thing.

You folks show little understanding of the Middle East and really? You do not give a fuck about the multiple religions/ethnicities/cultures in the region or the complexities of dealing with them. They have oil, we want it, we don't care how it's done. Might makes right, to the victor goes the spoils. And after centuries of that colonial attitude down there, it's exploding. Most notably the recent invasion of Iraq, which completely ignored all the geo-political realities. Like it or not? Iraq was a lynchpin in terms of providing stability. Most of the dictators in the region rule over a seething population of disparate peoples carved into countries by European colonialism. Keeping them together as countries involved the western notion of "nationalism". And "nationalists" need enemies. Big bad Iraq provided for that. The invasion however, sent millions of fleeing refugees into multiple nations. And many of these people reconnected in terms of religious and ethnic lines. And they began to see, very quickly, that their western supported dictators were illegitimate and no longer necessary because Iraq was gone, their lives had gone to shit and the literally had nothing to lose by rebelling against them.

That's what you folks created. This is what we were warning against.

And now it's here.

Bush's "wellspring" of democracy.

Nation building and "training" of troops and "security" forces was and is always a failure.

What gets me are the fools that believe we can just put troops on the ground and all is well and ISIS is defeated.
You fucking dumbasses. We had over 100,000 troops on the ground and could not defeat an insurgency in Iraq that was far weaker than ISIS.
Because Bush doctrine carried over to Obama always was NATION BUILDING.
All we did was prop up a Shia leader that persecuted Sunni and Kurd and consolidated his own power first. Maliki is as corrupt as they come.
ISIS has fucking tanks and personnel carriers we left behind. Iraqi troops cut and run.
Obama needs to go to the UN and also to Arab Sunni states for help.
No way we can do this alone.
Been there, done that, got a T shirt that says "American foreign policy in Iraq is STUPID from the start."

U.S. Weighs Iraq Rescue Mission to Save Yazidis

WASHINGTON—The U.S. is weighing a military mission in Iraq to rescue thousands of Yazidi refugees, a move that risks putting American forces in direct confrontation with Sunni fighters for the Islamic State.

So what do they have in mind for the long term to save the Yazidis?
Form a new country for them? Bring them to the United States?
Set up US bases and protect them like we have done for Japan and Korea?
This is a no win situation, since there is no exit strategy at all.

Well, let's see. It's another lie. 134 "advisors" are currently on the ground in Iraq. Look for 500 or so more in the coming days.

Now, before you Nazi fuckers start screaming "THEY AREN'T COMBAT TROOPS!!!" They are armed an have the authority to fire at the "enemy". Here's a clue - if they are armed - they are COMBAT TROOPS.

One more lie from the Chicago thug.

Kennedy called them advisors too as he got us into the vietnam adventure.

Already ISIS has changed tactics to a fall back and blend into the civilian population strategy.
ISIS has almost 2 billion in the bank and have looted everywhere they go. They have made over 200 million selling off ancient antiquities they have stolen since last year. They have around 10 million a month in oil revenue as they black market it over to Turkey. They have set up basically a welfare system everywhere they conquer giving out free food, gas and electricity to those that obey. They have a spy network as good as the Gestapo was and eliminate all opposition everywhere they go, some of the heads placed on poles.

This is what the military told Bush might happen if we toppled Hussein as he had all the crazies in check.
And they would not listen and then when Hussein fell what did they do?
Had a party and proclaimed VICTORY.

Where did they get the military hardware to invade Iraq and make Iraq soldiers cut and run?

Everyone keeps forgetting this little point. ISIS in its new form has jack shit to do with the Iraq war or Maliki.

It has everything to do with Syria and last time I checked it wasn't Bush or Maliki that wanted Assad deposed and helped destabilize the country so ISIS, Levant and al Nusra could become as wealthy and as powerful as they have become.

Who else to blame than Bush and his administration?
And I voted for him twice. My cousin retired from United States Marines as a Major in 1996. He along with many in the military were opposed to the Iraq invasion from the start.
And they were warned and Bush et al would not listen.
Similar to McNamara under Kennedy and Johnson.
They would not listen.
The Iraq invasion INCREASED terrorism world wide. Just a fact and hiding one's head in the sand does not change that fact.

Where are they now? Could they have taken everything they have, tanks, personnel carriers, M16s and all other sorts of American weapons if Saddam Hussein was still in power in Iraq?
You are the one out of your fucking mind. NO WAY the insurgency in Iraq now and ISIS would have stepped one foot in Iraq.
MOST ALL of the Sunni insurgents in Syria came from where? Iraq.
And 100,000 of our troops on the ground COULD NOT defeat them in Iraq.
Bush fucked it all up and you know it.

Plenty of blame to pass along to the incompetent Obama administration also. Real time intel RTI from Mossad had been known forever that Syrian rebels had been selling off their weapons to anyone and everyone forever.
Been going on since the Russians invaded Afghanistan and we funded the mujadeen. To this day they are killing Americans with those old weapons.
Syrian foreign policy by the current dumb ass in the White House was a SNAFU FUBAR from the start as these guys are amateurs worse than Bush. Throwing a half billion to the insurgents fighting Assad was a DUMB ASS move also.
But to claim that was what gave ISIS power if absurd. The power started the second Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld and Bremer refused to deal with the Baath Sunni Revolutionary Guard and let them loose with 85,000 armed to the teeth men. Day after that happened the car bombs started.
This is a Sunni v. Shia thing folks. Bush et al propped up Maliki and his corrupt Shia that from day one was persecuting Sunni and the Kurds.
But Obama never invaded Iraq did he?

You skipped over the whole thing and went to the Bush invasion, which by the way was explained.

Mubarack had been in power since the 50s. How much longer, given a regional threat was gone, do you think he was going to last? Faced with possibility of massive bloodshed in Egypt, the Obama administration managed the transition in the way that avoided that. It wasn't pretty but it could have been much worse. Same with Libya. And they wanted to become involved in Syria. Congress balked on that..and now over 200K people are dead.

There isn't a good solution to this. There are many bad ones..but wishing it away..isn't going to work.

Right now? We have a force of crazies in Iraq, burning through cities, massacring people and stating that they will be coming for us next.

That can't be allowed to continue.
