Reagan declares MLK Day a National Holiday...upsetting the party who Filibustered his Dream.

Give it up dumb ass everyone knows that your ilk voted against the King Holiday.
Reagan made it a holiday, Racist.

And your racist party filibustered Civil Rights?

Only after he opposed it Jackass, neither party is mine and you are talking about those Democrats who died as Republicans.
Really? That tired old lie?

List all the racist Dimwingers who filibustered the Civil Rights act the switched to the Republican party.

Let's see this long list...................

How long was Strom Thurmond in the Senate and what platform did he run on in 1948.

How about racist ass Jesse Helms.

How many more Governors were there that were Democrats and became Republicans.

Hell damn near any right wing politician in the South.
/——-/ You forget Robert KKK Byrd who democ RATs sent to the Senate for 35 years.

Actually I didn't forget about Byrd, but tell me when did he become a Republican.
/——/ He didn’t. He stayed loyal to the racist democRAT party.

He could have done like racist Thurmond and Helms and became a racist republican.

Neither the late great Jesse Helms nor Strom Thurmond were racists. One of Helms' top aides was James Meredith, the first black student at Ole Miss.

And Sen. Thurmond was the force behind breaking the color barrier on the Supreme Court and getting his constituent , Justice Clarence Thomas on the court. Thurmond was essentially the Branch Rickey of the Supreme Court.

Helms

You go to far with the comedy PP. I am from NC Jesse Helms was nothing but a racist POS. Hell Thurmond is another KNOWN racist segregationist. Their records speak for themselves.

And Sen. Thurmond was the force behind breaking the color barrier on the Supreme Court and getting his constituent , Justice Clarence Thomas on the court. Thurmond was essentially the Branch Rickey of the Supreme Court.

Helms
[/QUOTE]

Color barrier had already been broken, did Thurmond vote for Thurgood Marshall?

Perhaps the op should pick up a history book you know one that's not written in Texas and actually learn something.

The Democrats as a majority supported civil rights. The southern Democrats who were the minority at the party of the time were the ones who opposed it along with the Republican party led by Barry Goldwatera racist piece of s*** running for president, who thought he could win the presidency by appeasing the southern Democrats by opposing civil rights.

This is why all the southern Democrat leaders like Strom Thurmond quit the Democrat party and join the Republicans following the 1964 presidential election.

Southern Democrat leaders did NOT leave the Democrat Party at all after the 1964 elections.

It was only Sen. Thurmond, who BTW loved African American chicks his whole life, literally serving as a baby's daddy to a black broad in the 1920's in violation of liberal law.

All of the rest of the southern honky Democrat leaders- Jimmy Carter, the Gore Dynasty in Tennessee, the Clintons in Arkansas, James O. Eastland of Mississippi, Robert C. "Sheets" Byrd of West Virginia, stayed with the Democrats.

Thurmond was an outlier.

The leaves your list at 1.

You lose, Assflap.

I love showing how stupid Trump Humpers are.

In 1957, Helms as a Democrat won his first election for a Raleigh City Council seat.

/----/ Embrace democRATs racist heritage.
An example of shameful behavior by Northern Democrats occurred during the Civil War in 1862: A bill was introduced in Congress to free the approximately thirty-two hundred slaves in the District of Columbia where the federal government ruled. David Blight, in his superb biography Frederick Douglass, Prophet of Freedom, writes that “The roiling debate in both houses centered on the capacities of black people to cope with freedom and what was to be done with them after emancipation.” The bill proposed to pay compensation of $300 per slave to each slaveholder as well as $100,000 for various plans for colonization after the slaves were freed.

Every Republican in Congress voted for the measure. Every Northern Democrat but four voted against the bill. President Abraham Lincoln signed the bill into law in April 1862

I have never denied the Democrats racist history, we are speaking present day America and the Republican party is the party of racism today.
Oh, sorry. When he was on a city council.

So your list is 2.

Got it. :laughing0301:

So you are admitting you are lying POS, you claim he had NEVER been a Democrat.

Sounds like he admitted to making an honest mistake.

The bit where you said he admitted to lying?

Ironically, that was you lying.

And by your own standards, thus a piece of shit.

His 64 campaign platform included opposition to civil rights. He did this because he thought he could win the southern vote and steal the election. Regardless of his personal feelings, he was willing to oppose civil rights on the campaign trail to win votes and that's just as bad.

Way, I heard it, his 64 campaign platform included opposition to the 1964 civil rights act, because he thought it was a bad bill, not because he was anti-civil rights.

Just because someone is pro-civil rights, doesn't mean that they have to support all civil rights bills.

How mad were all the racists in the Dimwinger Party when Reagan did this? After all, they opposed everything MLK fought for.

Ronnie was caught on tape in the Oval Office saying that Blacks were still uncomfortable wearing shoes. :lmao:

Martin Luther King day isn't the national holiday it's a Federal holiday there's a difference.

There's one small problem it was the Republicans that came out against the civil Rights act as a party. the Democrats mostly supported it except for the southern Democrats and after its passage the southern Democrat leaders all defected to the Republican party.

Dr King: "the inseperable twin of racial justice is economic justice"

"what does it profit a man to be able to eat an integrated lunch counter if he doesn't earn enough money to buy food?" - Dr King

let us never forget that the great March On Washington that Dr King led in 1963 was called "The March For Jobs And Freedom". FOR JOBS AND FREEDOM

Considering what the movement he led, has degenerated into, it would be better to let his memory quietly fade away for a while.

Maybe a future society can rediscover him and discuss him in a time when, the damage caused by him and his spiritual descendants have been healed.
