Pitchers today could never achieve the quality innings of a Bob Gibson, even if their managers would let them try, which they never would. Pitchers today are like racehorses today, overly strong and fragile.

I don`t think it`s a fragility issue as much as its management trying to "protect" their arms. The pitchers don`t take themselves out of games. This pitcher was pulled after 59 pitches, and he was blowing the batters away and it was pre-arranged. They`re ruining America`s greatest game, IMO.

We`ll enjoy his work here in Pittsburgh for 3 years and the he`ll be gone because Pirate ownership stinks. Baseball needs socialism like the other 3 sports have. We have the best baseball stadium in the country and the worst owner.

Why do we have to quantify this. Comparing stats doesn't prove anything. I'm sure Josh Gibson was great, maybe even the greatest ever. I heard stories about Cool Papa Bell, that he was so fast he could turn off the light switch in his bedroom and be under the sheets before the room got dark. Great story, and you gotta love Cool Papa, but what does it really mean? People just need to realize that there were super great Black players who were unjustly prevented from playing in the traditional big leagues. The point is, it doesn't matter if you think Josh or Ty is better. It's just an opinion that these stats can't possibly confirm. Personally, I'm a White boy but I favor Josh, mainly because I'm prejudiced toward catchers.

Nothing is being destroyed. The competition in the negro league was on par with Major League Baseball. Adding the negro league to stats doesn’t diminish anything, but it recognizes the black players role in baseball. It’s an easy decision

I once hit a 2 out GS in “B” league Slow pitch to win the Championship (OF played in, 3-3 game) all the way to LF fence. But I only got credit for a single As the game ended when 1 run scored. Can I get in too? I got the scorebook. I changed it to GS with one out. Alongside Mazeroski?

I actually generally agree with having Negro league players in the Baseball Hall of Fame. But it has to be acknowledged that things like racism and slavery are not inherent to America. They were issues of racism and slavery all over the world into this very day. On the left wing need to stop acting like America was the only country that ever existed in the world and that white people were the only racist and slave owners in the world. Black people owned slaves to throughout history and engaged in racism.

Has anybody here ever seen a Negro baseball league game on a YouTube clip or something? It is fair to ask how were the records kept in these leagues. Without the insane agenda of the evil BLM people accusing somebody of being a racist for simply bringing that up. “Oh your racist you don’t think that people kept stats for the Negro leagues”

Again has anybody seen a clip or a full game of a Negro league game on YouTube? Because there’s tons of old videos from the major league baseball games. I’m sure maybe some of the videos of Negro league games exist. But it is fair to question how their stats were recorde. were all of their games even considered official. What about barnstorming games and exhibition games. Are Some of the Negro league players having their exhibition games included in the stats?


Obviously there were some tremendously talented black baseball players who played in the Negro leagues … and were denied entry into the MLB. That doesn’t mean that every player in the Negro leagues were better than every player in the MLB. Again the logic of the BLM left-winger is very much misplaced, it is racist. It is brutal one can say. Consider that even in the modern era many of the best baseball players are white. Please consider this.

It’s interesting that left-wing BLM fanatical supporters who have no interest in the sport of baseball are now getting involved in these discussions. Some of these folks don’t understand what a double player is or a Balk and they are getting involved in these discussions. You can't merge questionable records into MLB stats and immediately declare Gibson a better hitter than Cobb or Ruth....he wasn't.
