Refugee Children Are Better Vaccinated Despite Fox News Reports!

Did Fox mention that they are Hispanic?

That is the biggest fear

This should dispel the rumors about the refugee children coming into the U.S. from Central America not being vaccinated and carrying diseases. That simply is not the case and such fears should be quelled already.

Migrant kids better vaccinated than U.S. kids, but Fox News stokes ?germ? fears anyway

"STOP!!!!...STOP!!!!...STOP!!!!!....They just have to be disease ridden vermin.
usmb posters said so, Conservative and Republicans said so!!!...They can't be liars!!!"

Disease Threat From Immigrant Children Wildly Overstated
The Central American kids arriving in Texas are likely to be better-vaccinated than children in Texas.

Tuberculosis (TB) is one of the diseases most calculated to frighten Texans. On the right-wing blog Breitbart Texas, Vliet claims that immigrants with TB “are putting others’ lives at risk,” and that multi-drug-resistant TB is the “most common form” of TB in Latin America.

The latter is simply false: Fewer than 1 percent of TB cases in the Americas are multi-drug-resistant, according to the WHO. Most of those cases are still treatable. According to the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS), no cases of the more difficult extensively drug-resistant TB (XDR-TB) were reported here in 2012.

More than 90 percent of Central Americans are vaccinated against TB, according to the WHO. The vaccine, called the BCG, is imperfect. It’s used in countries where TB is still common, but some cases will break through the vaccine’s coverage.

Americans are not routinely vaccinated. According to the state health department, the 1,233 cases of TB that occurred in Texas in 2012 were mostly along the border and in prisons. The disease has stayed crouched in those centers of poverty because it flourishes where people live in close quarters and suffer from diseases like alcoholism and HIV, which knock down their immune defenses. Eradicate poverty, and TB fades away.

If they are so well taken care of, then lets get them back down to their native country as quickly as possible where they can be re-united with their family which has taken such good care of them so far.

And, a quick return will be the most effective way to stop the illegal invasion.

Its seems a quick return to family is best for everyone...except the Democrats don't get a fresh bunch to put on Welfare Rolls to educate on Dependancy and thus grow a fresh crop of Democratic Voters.

Yeah we know that lice ridden adults and children from south America are better vaccinated than Americans. This is a myth whose results should be eventually positive as disease spreads among the illegals and no one does anything about it. As we know, these illegals are better vaccinated than Americans. There's no need to do anything about epidemics.

The reason these unfortunate refugee children are here in the first place and should not be sent back to their native country is because they are escaping from the torture and hardship that their country engages in. That is completely inhumane. We, in turn, are known for being a humanitarian country that cares about people and welcomes them. No doubt that was the premise of George W. Bush's law that he signed in 2008 allowing immigrant children to come to America and be treated humanely with rights while here. Yet, today we hear of Republicans, mainly, wanting to repeal the Bush law right now in order to deny children the right to fair treatment. That is truly heartless and despicable! There is a process the children presently have to go through before being deported back to their country and that can take time. Some will have to go back and some will stay depending on their circumstances. That is the humane way to treat this situation and President Bush is to be commended for signing that bill into law. But there are some, like yourself apparently, who are in the minority who unfortunately wouldn't give a glass of water to a dying person. That is truly sad and pathetic and nothing to be proud about.

And do you fear Democratic votes by these kids? Apparently so. But the reality of the situation is that it would take a long time before such children would be old enough and eligible to vote and that is if they even get to stay permanently in this country in the first place and become citizens. So, tell you what. Grab your knees and put them together and then tie a good strong rope around them so they won't be knocking and shaking like a leaf anymore with your fear that is completely unfounded.

Their countries do not engage in torture nor does the country inflict hardship. The illegals do not claim the countries engage in torture or hardship
They claim to be escaping the gangs operating independently of the government. However in most cases the illegals coming in are gang members themselves. They carry the gang affiliation with them when they come here.

So their native countries are torturing them and subjecting them to hardship . . . but giving them vaccinations and spiffy healthcare? :disbelief: Do you hear how stupid that sounds?

Explain to me why, if illegal immigrants are not a health risk to the American public - not to mention a risk to the taxpayers via increased spending on public health - reliable sources on the subject of public health say otherwise:

Illegal Immigration and Public Health (2009)

According to Dr. Laurence Nickey, director of the El Paso heath district “Contagious diseases that are generally considered to have been controlled in the United States are readily evident along the border ... The incidence of tuberculosis in El Paso County is twice that of the U.S. rate. Dr. Nickey also states that leprosy, which is considered by most Americans to be a disease of the Third World, is readily evident along the U.S.-Mexico border and that dysentery is several times the U.S. rate."

A June, 2009 article in the New England Journal of Medicine noted that a majority (57.8%) of all new cases of tuberculosis in the United States in 2007 were diagnosed in foreign-born persons. The TB infection rate among foreign-born persons was 9.8 times as high as that among U.S.-born persons.

“The pork tapeworm, which thrives in Latin America and Mexico, is showing up along the U.S. border, threatening to ravage victims with symptoms ranging from seizures to death. ... The same [Mexican] underclass has migrated north to find jobs on the border, bringing the parasite and the sickness—cysticercosis—its eggs can cause[.] Cysts that form around the larvae usually lodge in the brain and destroy tissue, causing hallucinations, speech and vision problems, severe headaches, strokes, epileptic seizures, and in rare cases death.”

Typhoid struck Silver Spring, Maryland, in 1992 when an immigrant from the Third World (who had been working in food service in the United States for almost two years) transmitted the bacteria through food at the McDonald’s where she worked. River blindness, malaria, and guinea worm, have all been brought to Northern Virginia by immigration.

Hey, that's great. We're "compassionately" importing Typhoid-fucking-Mary across our border . . . literally.

"We're running an H.M.O. for illegal immigrants and if we keep it up, we're going to bankrupt the county."
-Los Angeles County supervisor Michael D. Antonovich, New York Times, May 21, 2003

“What is unseen is their [illegal aliens’] free medical care that has degraded and closed some of America’s finest emergency medical facilities, and caused hospital bankruptcies: 84 California hospitals are closing their doors.”
-Madeleine Peiner Cosman, Ph.D., Esq. “Illegal Aliens and American Medicine,” Journal of American Physicians and Surgeons, Spring 2005

I find it irrelevant to the conversation WHY their home countries suck. The point is that they DO suck, and only an Americacentric fucking-stupid leftist could think that public health is not one of the pre-eminent ways in which Third World countries suck. How far up their colons do their heads actually have to be for these people to believe that people desperately fleeing poverty in their native lands are doing so in perfect health with a full slate of vaccinations?

It's the same kind of liberal thinking that got ddt banned in Africa claiming that malaria would never spread.

what is it with RW women and their foul mouth syndrome ?

disease or otherwise, entry to the USA or otherwise, at least we have an opportunity to treat said disease prior to them dealing with other people and spreading that disease... or would you rather them sneak in and go untreated/unnoticed ?

Migrant kids better vaccinated than U.S. kids, but Fox News stokes ?germ? fears anyway

Frankly, I never bought into the contention that the refugees were suffering from widespread rampant diseases although some illnesses should be considered quite normal given the circumstances.

neither has anyone with an IQ over 60 either.

20 million aliens in this country and all of a sudden they became infested with disease ?

uh huh, riiiiiight.

Am I supposed to believe that immigrant children from countries that have no public health system are better vaccinated than US kids with a mandatory vaccination program, just because a small percentage of idiotic parents opt out of the vaccinations?

That's right. You have hit the nail right on the head about some women on the right having "foul mouth syndrome", as you call it, and it is quite apropos' listening to many of them right here on this message board and no doubt that is why some members are now moving to have their accounts removed and revoked since they contribute no more than maggots would to their host.

Funny how they don't actually use numbers to back up their claims, isn't it? One would think that, if they actually had proof, they wouldn't have to resort to blaming other people for stoking fears.

Torture and hardship? Who is the one stoking fear and appealing to emotion now? If their only goal was to get away from torture why didn't they stop when they got to Mexico, like every other refugee does when they get to a safe place?

Well, I think it was mostly meant to apply to the new refugees. But if they were so damn sick, how could they continue traveling mile after mile?

It was just one more scare tactic to make people worry about an immigrant plague when the plague the right is really worry about are the immigrants themselves.

But it's comical. Conservatives want something done. But they don't want Congress to work with Obama. And they don't want Obama to do anything on his own because that would make him a dictator. But they're mad that Obama's not doing anything.

Get it? Nobody else does either!

Well Stop To Think! What has the poor country of Mexico to offer them in comparison to the United States?
