Rep. Peter King (R-N.Y.) said on Wednesday that if Eric Garner had been healthier, he would not have died after a police officer placed him in a chokehold.

"If he had not had asthma, and a heart condition and was so obese, almost definitely he would not have died from this," King told CNN's Wolf Blitzer during an interview.

Even though video captured Garner saying that he couldn't breathe as officer Daniel Pantaleo placed him in a chokehold and wrestled him to the ground, King said that "police had no reason to know that he was in serious condition."

A different Staten Island grand jury was less sympathetic to Ramsey Orta, however, the man who filmed the entire incident.

I still can't comprehend that the only person indicted was the person who filmed Garner's murder. Unbelievable...

King's right. Any veteran police officer will tell you that he has put this same kind of hold on plenty of big guys, and they didn't die. This was very unusual, and it is clearly more the result of Garner's bad health than whatever the takedown method was.

Garner also is to blame for engaging in illegal activity (after being arrested 31 times)x, and then resisting arrest.
On top of all that, Garner's wife now says she won't accept Pantaleo's apology, when it could well be that no apology was ever needed to begin with.

Now, just like with Michael Brown, the illegal and anti-social behavior of another criminal fool, has resulted in civil strife, including thousands of motorists being stuck in traffic jams caused by nitwit protestors.

The question is do the cops (in particular the one doing the choke hold) have criminally culpable blame.

I guess the moral of this story is don't ever even look cross eyed at a cop unless you are in top physical condition. People with asthma should probably just kill themselves now as it is no doubt it it their own damn fault they have asthma.
