Republicans Err To Block HEROES Act Entirely

Republicans object to any financial aid that doesn’t go to corporations.
I got a $1200 check signed by Donald Trump. I'm not a corporation.

Democrats object to any financial aid that doesn't go to foreigners.

Really. A whole $1200? Whoopy shit. How long will $1200 last in terms of paying your mortgage, utilities, and putting food on the table? Workers in Ontario are 55% of their earnings up to $2100 per month, guaranteed to the end of August, and likely to be extended.

Companies which keep employees on payroll will be getting assistance in doing that, but our focus is on getting money to people, not corporations. Large companies won't be getting assistance. Our focus is on getting money to the people.

As a retiree living on my pensions, my income hasn't been affected at all, and I received a $300 HST rebate last month, and this month, I'll be receiving a $500 government payment, over and above my monthly pensions. The $300 I got last month is still sitting in my savings account, since I can't go anywhere and nothing is open. I'm actually saving money since I'm generally spending money going out with friends, dining out, going shopping, or travelling. I want to spend the money locally - not online to some big faceless corporation, but in the small family restaurants and stores owned by my neighbours and friends, like the family owned furniture store which features Canadian made furniture. So for now the money sits in my bank account
Based on $7.35 an hour*40* 4 weeks= $1,200

Democrats have included the kitchen sink in this bill. Every single thing on the control and forwarding of socalism wish list is in this bill. Republicans need to put forth a clean bill with just what we actually need and not one cent more. Let the Dems struggle to add things.
Exactly. The Democrats don't even expect Republicans to accept this boondoggle. It is just a an opening ante.

Pelosi is trying to sneak AMNESTY and Stimulus Checks for ILLEGAL Aliens into a bill that was originally intended to provide economic relief for struggling Americans. Billions of dollars would be paid to Illegal Aliens while Americans are struggling, some hungry and millions jobless.

It gets worse too, they aren't just trying to give illegal aliens money in the future, they want to pay them retroactively for the $1,200 provided in the previous bill!

Republicans need to sift through this mess, eradicate the garbage, and present their own bill. Then, let them all hash THAT out.

That's what I said. I'm a person. Not a corporation. Some people have to be told twice.

It's dead on arrival, money for illegals
If there is no other (better) bill to replace it, Joe Biden scores a big victory.

Why do we need one at this time, all the money on the last one has not been spent, people are still receiving checks

Again Nancy went this one alone.

People still haven't received their $1200 checks? Canadians got their $1200 bank deposits on the 10th of April. Senior citizens will get their stimulus cheques at the end of this month. Of course Trumpy Bear had to put his name on the cheques that Nancy Pelosi sent to workers. That's what Trump does - take credit for the work of Democrats.

1. I'm a senior citizen. I got my check April 23rd. People with IRS direct deposit got theirs earlier.

2. How do you figure the CARES Act as Nancy Pelosi's work, and not Trump ?

On March 16, Republican senators Mitt Romney and Tom Cotton stated their support for a $1,000 basic income, the former saying it should be a one-time payment to help with short-term costs.
On 17 March, the Trump administration indicated that some payment would be given to non-millionaires as part of a stimulus package.

Minimum wage in Canada is $14.00 per hour - 40 hour week X 4 weeks = $2240 per month. EI pays 55% of income so a minimum wage worker only gets $1232 per month, but they would also have received $500 per month per child, and $500 in HST refund, so the $1232 per month is deceiving. Minimum wage workers were receiving $500 per child BEFORE the pandemic. Last month they got an extra $500. So in addition to EI of $1200, they received $1000 for each child in the house, and will continue to receive $500 per month per child.

So Canada only got half the minimum wage?

No Canada got 55% of wages, to a maximum of $540 per week. So if you're making $1500 per week, you get $540 per week. But if you make less than $1000 per week, you won't be getting $540. In addition to EI, anyone making below $35,000 per year is eligible for income for Child Tax Benefits of up to $500 per month, per child, GST (Goods and Service Tax) rebates, and Trillium Benefits (Ontario only). So a minimum wage single parent of two children, would be getting something in the range of $2500 per month - $1200 from EI, $1000 from CTB, and $300 from Trillium.

And don't forget universal health care with no copays.

Democrats spread money out to favored supporters and create an acronym for the bill they call "Heroes". If republicans argue, democrats claim they are against "heroes". Brilliant.

Calling this travesty the Heros Act is like calling China the peoples republic of China. The names are propaganda and have nothing to do with reality.
The whole bill is a stretch of reality, and is designed to call Republicans in for negotiations. If they don't and just reject it entirely, Nancy Pelosi will have an early Christmas gift, she probably never would have expected.

The negotiation should occur in the House. You do realize that is where the bill gets pared down, right?

Oh yeah I forgot you posted the 55% wage. Where does Canada get the money from, do they have the equivalent to the US federal reserve?

A lot of people aren't getting anything. I make too much $$.

They sell refrigerators to Eskimos in winter.

I know you're right and that's exactly what pisses me off. Having to accept what will be bad for our country because it's politically expedient is what makes politics such an evil profession. It would be nice if responsibility and integrity were put back into politics but that profession has been perverted so much that good, honest people with good intentions are not welcome.
They don't have to accept what is bad. They just need to negotiate the bad stuff out of the bill, and accept what is good. Rejecting entirely is a mistake.
Nasty Pelousy will not negotiate.

How did that workout the last time? $25 million still went to the Kennedy Center for no apparent reason among many other Democratic perks
Well, they need to be more careful than that, and insistent on their terms. And just do it right.

When Canada goes bankrupt, will you move to the US in order to maintain your piss-poor welfare standard of living? Oh, wait! You can't because the border is closed.

We have just a few more people than Canada.
