Republicans in US House Demand Boston Bombing Be Politicized

This Right Wing Piece of Shit, Michael Thomas McCaul, Sr. will hold hearings?
Controversy

In August 2011 AlterNet reported that McCaul, along with John Culberson and Ted Poe were attempting to remove the right of deceased soldiers families to choose which prayers, if any, were to be read at a soldiers funeral.

The three politicians were said to be attempting to impose Christian ceremonies on the military funerals of everybody who has served in the military, regardless of whether or not the deceased was Christian and with or without the consent of the family of the deceased.

The three politicians stated their demands were a response to Veterans Affairs (VA) banning Christian prayers at military funerals, however, VA state this claim is "blatantly false" as VA respects a families "rights to pray however they choose at our national cemeteries"

This Right Wing Piece of Shit, Michael Thomas McCaul, Sr. will hold hearings?

Come on Dante,

First of all the title of the article is "Congressional committee calls hearing on Boston bombings" (your title is extremely misleading and exaggerated), and according to the report the aim is to figure out why the bombings happened and if we can do anything differently to prevent something like this in the future.

Given that one of these guys was on an FBI and CIA watchlist at one point, and that he was physically interviewed at some time prior to the bombing after being tipped off as a potential threat, obviously people are going to wonder why he "slipped through the cracks". Is this a ridiculous thing to wonder?

Please (and I say this with the utmost respect), try to post horseshit threads intentionally trying to stir up angst between the right and the left. It does us no good.
If you truly have trouble with Headlines that are 'extremely misleading and exaggerated' you'd better not venture outside of your comfort zone.

You say "according to the report the aim is to figure out why the bombings happened and if we can do anything differently to prevent something like this in the future." yet choose to ignore the track record of the man heading the committee? :eusa_whistle:

You are using facts in an extremely misleading and deceptive way. No one "slipped through the cracks" The process worked. There was nothing there at that time. Are you demanding the US Government spy on people in this nation without any evidence?

Read the facts of what transpired with the US and the Russians. Your deceptive misstatements lay the foundation for the Right Wing Politicization of the national tragedy. Are you being duped or are you that pathetically partisan?

IOW, your links do not back your assertions up at all. We are to simply take Dante’s baseless conjecture at face value because he says so.

You know, you are starting to sound exactly like those right wing extremists that think Obama planted weapons himself in fast and furious. You do realize that senate herrings are the NORM for situations like this. They can and should reexamine law that failed. Maybe they can make improvements. Maybe not. Demanding that they take no action because you feel it is some random politicized attack against your hero is rather pointless though.

Pssst. This has NOTHING to do with Obama.

FOX News and Right Wing World talking points and myths with no refutation?

It's official that the FBI interviewed Tamerlan in 2011, and decided he wasn't a threat despite a direct warning from Russia that the man was dangerous.

FBI Interviewed Tamerlan Tsarnaev, Dead Bombing Suspect, In 2011: Official

Does this fall into your 'myth' category regardless?

You have misrepresented facts yet again. The FBI was notified. They checked things out. The Russians gave the US nothing to go on that would warrant further action than was taken.

Both CIA and FBI recommended putting the guy on a certain status of watch list. That was done. There is NO way to make America 100% safe without giving up all our rights...and even then...

Dante - for whatever reason though, our investigation did fail. I'm not taking a left or right approach on this - it's a plain and simple fact. I'm not implying any wrongdoing, or saying that we can catch every terrorist.

I'm just saying the investigation failed and it's valid for people to want to know if there's anything better we could be doing.

Are you against improvement? Are you against revising current systems/structures?

Thanks for the insult too at the end of all of your posts; adds a lot of 'class' to the discussion.

Dante, think for just one minute.

We were given a tip that this guy was dangerous - right? And by whatever measures the FBI uses to validate that claim, he was rated as "not dangerous".

So (given that he turned out to actually be very dangerous) is it is perfectly logical that one would want to retrace their steps and ask the question; did our initial ratings/measurements in 2011 fail us? Perhaps, is there something different we could have done?

Why the heck are you against any sort of investigation (in preventative measures) after one of the most profound/televised terror attacks in the US since 9/11?

Dangerous? Dangerous how? The Russian government is now the ultimate authority the USA should trust on 'truth'?

What the FBI and CIA did has been put out there. More will come out. But................. the GOP Committee Chairman from Texas has a history of holding hearings and drawing conclusions that fly in the face of truth and honesty.

Of course there is something we could have done differently...we could tear up the US Constitution because we are prey to fear and loathing.

Commenting upon a GOP Chairman with a history of bullshit is not being against 'investigations' of process and such, it is warning that the GOP Right Wing has started it's bullshit again

they will LIE about the facts they find just like they did in fast and furious and benghazi

BTW, the only lie in this thread so far has been the title to the article (represented by the link) that is totally misrepresented and has no bearing on the actual link. Basically, an outright lie.

Truth - What? What kind of assumptions are you making about me exactly?

I consider Bush to be right on par with Obama. I have been (at numerous times) very vocal on the USMB about Bush, Cheney, and their numerous blunders which not only set our gov't up for a crapload of debt (ie cutting taxes during a war), and starting a war with a country that never attacked us.

Try stepping out of the notion that everyone is either with the Dems or with the Republicans.

A lot of us are waking up and are for neither...

Well sir, you can start with the fact that he planted a bomb at the Boston Marathon that killed 3 and blew the legs off of numerous others after being radicalized a few years back.

So black and white, aren't you?

I'm not saying that we need to trust everything the Russian gov't tells us - obviously (use your head, man!) - I'm just saying that we should have listened to the Russians this time, and we didn't.

For whatever reason, we didn't, and this led to the loss of innocent life.

The situation warrants an investigation; not to throw gov't officials in jail, but to improve our process. Again, are you against improving our processes and learning from mistakes?

We did listen to the Russians, That is what the record so far shows. There was smoke with NO fire. You yourself say the guy was out on a watch list. What would you like to have done to a family member of US Citizens who was accused of something vague with little to no evidence?

Innocent loss of life? Oh please, stop milking it. Stop putting up bullshit arguments and appeals to emotional ties as if saying others do not value life and worse, do not value 'innocent' life, whatever the fuck that is.

No investigation by a Right Wing Congressman with a track record of NOT dealing with facts honestly and truthfully will suffice and go unchallenged before it starts out.

Dante, thanks (once again) for the insult. Very classy.

Your OP was titled "Republicans Demand to Politicize the Bombings" which points to an article that simply states that "Congressional Leaders" are calling for an investigation into our Homeland security procedures. Nothing specifically citing the GOP in the article you posted.

You mention the guy from Texas and simply call him an "asshole" (this tells me nothing). You point to some soldier/prayer controversy he was involved in 2 years ago (this tells me nothing).

You started a misleading post (ie "Republicans DEMANDING this be politicized, har har har") and now you're calling anyone an idiot who calls you out for it (very classy - again).

Yes, do not back up. You still have not backed them up. All you have done is besmirching that person’s record.

He is a republican POS. Fine. What does that have to do with this situation?

I see that you edited my post in order to take out some of the content. Particularly the part where I stated that: SENATE HERRINGS ARE THE NORM. This is not some unusual occurrence. When things like this occur, herrings happen.

This is what you need to do to back up your baseless assertion: connect the calling of those hearings to an attack on Obama. Find a quote where the senator is demanding herrings to find out what Obama has done wrong or why Obama let this happen. Your link contains nothing of that nature. IOW, it is not being politicized at this time. Hearings politicize nothing. Getting to the bottom of Benghazi to search for the fingerprints of the administration does. Demanding that the Whitehouse has ties to fast and furious is politicizing. Trying to discover if current law is deficient is NOT politicizing.

What YOU are doing is politicizing. Demanding that whatever this particular senator does, no matter that it is the normal and required operation of the senate, is steeped in political motives and wrong is politicizing it. Essentially, you are demanding the he NOT do his job simply because you don’t like him. Your hypocrisy in this matter is amazing.
